Video Xbox One

After being able to show you guys the PS4 version of Call of Duty: Ghosts, we can now offer you a few extracts of the game on Xbox One. Oddly enough, Infinity Ward did like Dice and released the game in 720p on Microsoft's console, but at least it runs smoothly at 60 fps - which is not always the case of the 1080p PS4 version.

I read that the reason why PS4 version has framerate issues is because the framerate goes above 60fps and TVs cant deal with that so it starts to become an issue, I think it was in eurogamer or something.

Why would a TV have problems with that? I have a 600 Hz 3D TV. I have played games from my pc on it that ran higher than 60 fps.
But not all tv have that high? I know mine doesnt.
I dont know, thats what i read, could be wrong though.

Over what kind of input? Most "high refresh rate" televisions just frame double whatever input they receive. Most TV's that advertise high refresh rates do not actually accept inputs above 50/60hz.

Nevermind that it doesn't matter anyway since the PS4/Xbox won't output signals above 50/60hz.

And Sath isn't entirely wrong. There's a juddering issue associated with desynced frames above 60fps in this game (as there was in NFS desyncing @ 30) on the PS4.

I think what you mean is that the PS4 can't output higher then a 60 hz signal, I think that was what digital foundry was getting at.

It's not because the PS4 can't output higher than 60hz, it's just a poor implementation of v-sync.

Also your TV's processor (if you have LED) has an effect on it. Playing it on my Sony LED it runs smooth as a whistle, but on my mom's older LG(thanks giving shooting tradition!), it stuttered on occasion.

No such thing as 600hz really

It's motion tech to make the tv appear smoother . It's an engine they've built into the tv.

The actual inputs are only 50/60hz.

The Xbox One version isn't smooth either. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-c...

If thats what he meant then yeah I got that too, but i turn it off since it puts some serious input lag in games, hence why gaming mode turns off any TV gimmicks like that so it doesnt stress through the refresh rate.
I turn these gimmicks off so i dont need to go into gaming mode for it.

It's not the consoles. It's not the tv. It's infinity Ward/Activision that made a framerate laggy game. This is why releasing every year is bad. They don't have the proper time to fully polish a game.

Until they sort their act out, I won't be investing in either console. Fed up of being told one thing, and sold another. My PC still cuts it for now :)

Yeah, it's a processing engine, and some are better then others.

On films, it does give a unique look. Very smooth, like 60fps/30fps on games.

Unique, yes.
Good? no.

Games are different and good at 60fps since it looks great and has great responsiveness to it, but in movies it will look like some shitty soap opera series or some guy filming a documentary on set of the movie.

I rathered Shadow of the Collossus back in the day at the standard PS2 resolution even going down to 15fps. I would not have preferred 320 x 240 at solid 30fps. The same applies here. The game still received 10/10 scores regardless.

screw that, ill stick with PC gaming on my 120hz monitor, no frame rate issues here though my monitor also has overdrive which helps boost the refresh rate when connected via HDMI, my PC is connected via dual link DVI which is how i get the 120hz refresh.

maybe the consoles could have had DL DVI connectors on them which would have helped a lot.

Depending on your TV, plasma will run at 600hz native, so, it's not upscaling motion crap. With LED and LCD however, that's where you get the refresh rate gimmicks. For example, some manufacturers will insert blank screens into the signal to make it appear smoother even though the native refresh rate is still slower. Most games will run comfortably at a 120hz (native) refresh rates, exceptions being things like fifa where you have small, fast moving objects. Ideally, if you have an LED you want 240hz (native) tv...however to get that you're looking at 1k+ for your tv. A lot of brands advertise cheap 240hz+ TV's, but those aren't the native refresh rates, they're the result of processing gimmicks.

Additionally, LED tv's use a processor. If they processor chip isn't up to par, it can cause stutters. I've seen this myself when playing BF4 and other titles on a 4 yo LG 120hz, vs my new Sony 120hz. I dont get any stutters at all on my newer tv, which has a much better processor in it.
