Ubisoft has released a target gameplay demo for Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6: Patriots where creative director David Sears shows what the studio have in mind for the game.
Jesus, wow. Can you imagine living that guys life, then having to throw him off the bridge. Certainly shows the difficulty of the choices these people have to make, but I think their morality is more numbed than mine. That was tough to even watch!

Reminds me of "target videos" early this gen for games like Killzone and Ghost Recon. At least this time they had the decency to put a disclaimer up throughout the video. I'll look forward to see how it's advanced from R6 Vegas though.

The graphics were not that impressive at all, it will look better by release time. The vid was more of a "look what we can do with a good writer and animator" than anything else.

it most likely will be release on next gen. If next gen does come out in or near 2013, I can see them delaying the game and releasing it as one of those games that shows off the whole technology of the new generation consoles.
That was just dark..it strucked me..poor man..if the gameplay wud be as the target render, then I have a reason to be excited and at last, A REAL TACTICAL shooter
I see what they're trying to do here but it just doesn't really impress me. I was a huge fan of Rainbow Six Vegas but that was before MW and BF3. They need to find a way to make this play just as smooth and have uber tight gameplay. I have hopes but I don't know...

Well if history repeats itself. All the early prototypes of Microsoft's next machine should be overheating and killing themselves. Now all that's left is to do absolutely nothing about it until Launch, wait 4 and a half years and release the version that doesn't overheat and kill itself and then repeat. And of course in the middle of all this a majority of Americans will ignore all this and buy it anyway.
About the game, if its still on the Unreal Engine then it will look like ass even in another year and a half of development.
That looked really promising. Good emotional attachment. Something to give everyone to think about before making an action. Previous Rainbows were straight on killing the bad guys stuff. Interesting turn of events, then.
Anyways, I'm really starting to get annoyed that even this site is starting to get infestated by the cancer of the gaming community, fanboys. Gamersyde has been one of the best -non biased sites, and still is- but the fanidiots are starting to grow by the numbers on the commenters. One of the last safe havens is in danger (sarcasm or something in that vein).
Honestly, I didn't care about the graphics after watching that video. The idea of making very hard choices to progress in the game is something worth exploring further...
Those little button prompts in the beginning are silly and comes off as a feeble attempt to make the cutscenes more interactive. It is a target prototype so graphics can greatly improve. As for the gameplay, I do like how they put you in the shoes of the victim first. It gives later actions made by the soldiers more weight as players reaction to the victim's death will vary depending on the player's first impressions of the victim.
