Man that commentary and music were so misplaced

So, are there different release dates on this? I have people telling me it's in open beta, but then I check and there is no open beta for PC. Not like it's that big of a deal. I'm just curious what the hell is going on with the times, because I'd like to see what changes were made since the alpha and closed beta.

Agree 100% with you.

Mixing Rainbow Six with Shakespeare and that music made me want to laugh out loud real hard throughout the whole video. I even holded my mouth with my hand to not make any sound laughing - very late here, but I just couldn't resist because it's all so bad that it can't be taken seriously.

The "genius" that thought this was good should be slapped till he comes to his senses. This was really, really bad even by Ubisoft's standards.

R6 is not COD or BF. If the rounds are short, it's usually because people try to run and gun in, then die. This is a very different take on the entire R6 series, and strangely is more tactical than any of its predecessors where the tactics didn't include world objects and relied on players only.

Enjoying the beta (finally a tactical shooter on consoles again) however the game would of benefited hugely from bigger maps, 8v8, 10 min matches and less gadgets.

Nope. There is a strict time limit. It was the mode 'bomb'. I think every round was 5 minutes. Had nothing to do with run and gun. The time limit made us to run and gun. There was no time for tactics at all.
You mean disarming a bomb before its time is up?

I'm not sure of what your idea of tactics is then... but depending on the game mode, your job is to use your abilities and tactics in the time given. You have to adjust your tactics used for which ever mode is active. That's part of what makes it R6.

It may also be a case of serverside preference. Even in Vegas and Ravenshield, you could specify all the settings to your liking. Not having a time limit in a R6 game though is silly.

They're really pushing the term "beta." It's a network test. The game was "gold" at the end of October. I think this abuse of the term beta is actually hurtful as a marketing tool. They should have called it a network test.

I would also like to know what people mean when they say "tactical."

Matches or rounds? Because matches w/ good teams are already 10+ minutes. 5v5 single elimination rounds w/ crappy teams are never going to be very long. Do people think there are no "tactics" in Counter Strike?

10 min rounds, best of 3 no need for 5 very short matches.

You want ten minute rounds in a 5v5 single elimination game? Really?

They want some people to play their game.

Even if the timer were set to ten minutes, the average round would still be much shorter. And pubbies aren't hot on sticking around in games where they have to wait ten minutes to respawn. That's a game killer. See: Mech Warrior Online. Good game. Way too much downtime. Dead.

And really.. there aren't "five short matches." A round isn't a complete game.

Edit: Watching some Raven Shield clan matches on youtube. The rounds are shorter than five minutes. Hopefully you can adjust round length in custom games, but I wouldn't count on people playing ten minute rounds.

Why would they need to stick around for 10 mins? They wont be dying instantly. I said before the game should of been 8v8 with bigger maps. Right now the maps are tiny and the bombs are always in the same rooms over and over...If your in a good team you can win matches withing 1-3 mins.

This is supposed to be a tactical shooter but right now due to 5 min matches it's all rushed.

This is not what Rainbow 6 is about.

Some people will die early. Many people.. mostly noobs.

And no.. you can not win a "match" in one minute. Stop using "match" and "round" interchangeably.

Again: I'm watching R6:3 Raven Shield clan matches on Youtube and the rounds are not longer.

In fact the round timer was.. five minutes.

no single player means no buy from me. I liked to play coop and single player terrorist hunt on Rainbow Six Vegas. This lack of SP mode sucks.

Match/Round...You know what im on about stop being an utter arse! Fact is winning ROUNDS within a minute or two is just stupid. Also everyone having camera's at the beginning to find the bomb and enemy...Why? It's nonsense whatever happened to trying to figure out where the enemies or bombs are? This game is kidding on it's hardcore but in reality they have bowed down the the casuals as usual.

Semantics are actually important. And old Rainbow Six games had the same round timer.

The prep and recon phase keeps each round dynamic. This is the best R6 since Raven Shield.

I'm probably skipping it myself, but only because I'm busy with other shooters, and ultimately I'd rather play CS:GO if I really want to play a single elimination shooter. But bowing to casuals? Nah. At least they're not bowing to the whim of gamers who assessed the "tactical" value of Seige after one match w/ random testers.

Shifting gears: Kudos to Ubisoft for using different recoil patters on consoles vs. PC.

That's because they're rounds not matches. I'm sure you could adjust the timer. People still played five minute rounds. Clans played best of twelve. Ya know.. "twelve short matches." ;)

Edit: Some leagues used four minute rounds even. Dem casuals.

If it's the same every round.. that's on the players who are making it the same every round.

So how is it now the same? Every single player starts with remote control camera's and you go looking for bombs and badguys every single round...How is that dynamic? What is it your doing in the 30 seconds before the matches start thats so dynamic lol

Before each round. There are several prep stages in each match. Picking sites, deploying defenses, and surveying the environment. How are those things not improving round-to-round variety? What FPS games do this better?

Counter Strike is the same every round. Prep provides the opportunity for every round in Rainbow 6: Siege to play out differently. If players are deploying at the same sites and using the same defensive options every round.. that's not the game's fault. The prep and surveillance stage gives players the option to make the game dynamic, especially compared to similar single elimination scenarios.

You could leverage that same complaint against virtually any shooter, and yet Siege is more dynamic than most. There are also additional game types that aren't in the test. Hostage rescue should provide even more variety.
