Atomic Motion's Raven Squad: Operation Hidden Dagger is back in the spotlights with this brand new trailer. The game will be the unlikely mix between a strategy game and a FPS and should be released at the end of this year on PC and Xbox 360.
At first I thought this was going to be a really poor implementation of the idea, but after watching the E3 walkthrough at GameTrailers I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. It might be a really fun game after all.
As soon as I saw the game, I thought Far Cry. They really don't have to hype the game as much as they tried to in the trailer. It just came off as desparate and begging for attention when the guy was boasting about the E3 awards. It's funny, I haven't heard much at all about this game. I won't judge the game too early, but it will get lost in the larger library of fps on the 360 now and the near future.
This trailer was hilarious - had me in stitches by the end.
This trailer was pure, comedic gold. When the voice over started at the beginning of the video, I was thinking, "where did they get this announcer from, the office mail room?" However, it by the time the video gets to the two guys giving each other the high-five, it was quite apparent the intent of the trailer was spoofing the uber-bravado, machismo schtick that most game trailers (pick your testosterone dripping, macho game of choice) go for in their trailers - and they were doing a pretty good job of it. Even had the faux, "we won some meaningless awards at E3," bit towards the end.
Very funny stuff, I really enjoyed the fact the publishers chose not to take the entire macho trailer stuff too seriously. Definitely got my attention and put Raven Squad on my radar. Besides, I am always looking for a new twist on the strategy game genre, and FPS/RTS with a comedic twist, should prove interesting.
