Images PS3

A trailer of Resistance 3 was revealed during the Video Game Awards a few weeks ago but this time, the new FPS of Insomniac Games is back with some screenshots. The environments shown are already known but at least we have a picture of the beautiful Susan.

Looks great to me; love the art style. The gameplay looks to be incredibly cinematic based on that gameplay trailer as well.

Get a half life 2 vibe from the architecture, not a bad thing. Resistance 2 was pretty weak, but from the vid from VGA they seem to have stepped it up, I hope.

Someboy already mentioned it, these are some of the first screens shown.
I bet it will be great in motion, but as some one already mentioned, the chimera models are really showing their age. they don't look that much better than Doom 3 models, almost.

They trounce Doom 3 models.
Maybe not artistically, as these things have a bit of a "generic'ism" to them, but technically Doom3 is obviously far inferior.

I don't know, those Doom 3 models look pretty good, lol. They may not sport as many polys, but the models are still great. Of course the hard, dynamic shadows help make them pop a bit. I'd love to see those R3 models in with the Doom Lighting- probably'd look awesome...

the trailer from the VGA's showed in-game stuff and it certainly looked nice in motion.

Depending on how you look at it, Doom 3 was by far more impressive compared to it's competition when it hit and it still has some pretty damn good use of normal maps on low-poly meshes.

Somewhow i get the feeling that im looking at very smallt hings with these screens...the characters feel more like dolls than people/murderous savage aliens for some reason.

It's a good looking game for sure, but I was more thinking of this guy (he has a somewhat similar design):

I don't see this guy coming close to the fidelity of the Resistance 3 models

The Resistance games have just been so depressing thematically, especially the second game where you get to the ending only to realize that everything you've done up to that point was not going to change the outcome of the invasion, at all.

Hopefully, this game ends on a slightly more chipper note, but I don't see how that would be possible based on the way the series plot has been developing.

i'm hoping for the opposite. it'd be nice to see a game that doesnt have a "we fought and won" ending. it's getting a bit cliche'd. reach did it well, where the nobel team die and reach is taken by the covenant. it's not an upbeat ending. but it's more interesting then the nobel team fighting, kicking their ass and sending them packing where "everyone lives happily ever after".

reading about the game reminds me of "the road" tho with the whole - humanity has fallen, fighting to survive, people resorting to canibalism to carry on living etc. so i'm hoping something along the lines of that. major loss and desperation mixed in with a glimmer of hope.

I agree with you but theres another thing to take note.. for one Halo reach is a prequel, its end result was set in stone prior to the release. Resistance 2 already ended in such a fashion, for this to end in the same fashion being the third game would just make it feel like there is no hope for a positive outcome ever. it looks like the world and its people are as defeated as can be judging from the trailer, to fight in the game only to lose again wouldnt feel appropriate IMO

They could give you a rewarding victory at the end without locking out the possibility of further sequels.

I think that's the main issue though. The first two were "fine", what we want is "great". There is nothing really wrong with the graphics, what I want is a game that is more fun and interesting to play. The PS3 controller pisses me off for FPS's though...

yeah, i agree, the triggers are awful and i keep slipping off of the analog nubs. I don't understand why they haven't amde them a more rubbery-type material and for the love of god, is it too much to ask to make them concave?

As for the game, my afore mentioned gripe about it for some reason looing more like action figures than people/monsters is still present, but i think it looks alright none the less. I've seen worse to be sure. I only played the first game though, but it thought it was AWFUL. Graphics were kind of bad for such a big title (expecially textures in some areas) and the gameplay was incredibly unengaging to me. As a result i never even considered getting part 2 and seeing as how i've not heard much about it since release, i expect i haven't missed out on much? This doesn't exactly get me fired up for the next installment for obvious reasons :P

It's the lack of triggers, and the HUGE dead zone in the middle of the sticks for me...

a myth carried over from dualshock2 the dead zone in dualshock 3's are tiny. not too mention dualshock 3 analogue stick precision is 10bit not 8bit compared to 360/ps2 (1024 discrete steps vs 256) which translates into smoother crosshair movement.
