A new recruit is joining Gamersyde today and will record and upload videos from the US for us. So let's welcome BombTux, and thank him for the first 10 minutes of Call of Duty: World at War, with a second video coming a bit later.

Definetly getting this game tomorrow :)
Its basically exactly CoD4 online but with japs, germans, soviets, brits and americans, what more could u want? :) Finally a great game like CoD4 but without the "terrorist" nonsense! :D

The thing i dont really like is the way tanks are almost an afterthought.. Either vehicles should be availible on ALL maps, or not at all, imo.. But they are pretty cool though. Still hoping for a future CoD:Battlefield game.

I just can't seem to get exited by the cod series anymore, after torturing myself by completing cod 2,3,4 on veteran i just feel apathy and loathing towards this series ;)

They really need to change the gameplay mechanics, the concept of endlessly respawning enemies is old and stale and just not very satisfying, when you play the cod games on veteran killing enemies is basically pointless it's more about surviving the mad dash between checkpoints, nothing frustrates me more than bravely fighting off 50+ enemies only to be killed by a stray grenade over and over again and finally being forced to just run like a mad man to the next checkpoint, when luck and glitches are the only way of progressing in a game the developers aren't doing something right.

....But the game does look really nice and fun so i will probably torture myself again.

i just love the veteran mode of this series

the torturing sessions but going through them is a thrilling experience.

After playing COD4, i dunno..i think i want to stick to modern warfare..just so intense! :D

i'm going to skip this one, as i loved COD2 and COD4, COD6, here i come!

Finished this yesterday, thought it copied waaaay too much from COD2 and lots of scripted bits from COD4

It's a solid game, but they just dont have the same sense of drama as IW.

That said...

ZOMBIE NAZIS! what a blast!! best 'freebie' ever! almost worth the £34 on it's own

No one expected it to be even this good.
It's treyarch, they make mediocre/ almost a little decent games. For them to make a solid title and one of the best, if not the best WW2 game in the market, is a triumph.

It's really not that good. I enjoyed the beta, but I'm a little underwhelmed by the final product. The maps aren't nearly as good as Call of Duty 4's, the basic kits are far more unbalanced against the potential unlocks, and it's just stiffer (movement, not gun play) and the weapons and sounds thus far are lacking (but better than the beta). Frankly, Call of Duty 2 is a better game. Oh, and the tanks are garbage and oh so out of place.

I know that all sounds very critical, and perhaps it is. I actually do think it's a good game, and perhaps much better than Call of Duty 3.. but it's just making me appreciate Call of Duty 4 more every time I play it. I think it's a sure bet for fans of the franchise, which I am, or people who like the setting.. but I'm glad Activision decided not to call this game COD5.

There's a campaign mode in Call of Duty?! ;)

After playing this for 45mins I turned it off. Having to rank up to get a scope AND play certain game modes is a bore. I hate WW2 weapons, why did they go back to this? ... the franchise rocketed after COD4! They could have done Vietnam or something. Big yawn, already had some annoying kid tell me what he's going to do to my Mum after he pirouetted round the map with his trigger held down. Another let down after Gears2.

I and a few of my buddies really enjoyed cod3, the sp was ok but the multiplayer was excellent, if only due to the fact that it used client side hit detection.
So when you shot someone on your screen you shot them regardless of where the host was located, none of this having to aim increasingly ahead everytime someone from north america hosted on Cod4 which happened 90% of the time.

i'm about 3/4 through campaign. i agree with the 88% score on gamerankings.

its a hell of a lot better then i thought it would be, being made by the people who made one of my worst game experiances ever (spiderman 3)

but the way i see it is IW make call of duty, but since it takes 2 years, having a tryarch game inbetween is better then nothing. and in this case alot better then nothing. im suprised how good it is, but i suppose they are using IWs engine.

tryarch will have to tryarch a bit harder next time though. it just lacks a certain something cod4 has...

but even so. its a very solid game.

mulitplayer maps are pretty shit though. not many , if any, come up where i think 'yes! i love this map!' i usually say ahhhh.. this one... meh il play anyway

Expected an average game (after the horrible COD3), but frankly speaking it's really really good. Definitly on the level of COD2 and COD4 and definitly worth a buy. Am a bit tired of WWII games, but it's fresh take on it.

edit : LOOOOOOOOVE the music. Damn. The level where you are on a plane shooting ships has such great pumping music. Has some industrial beat esque touches in it. Impressive.

lolwut? Go play some Brothers in Arms games, those are the best WWII games bar none. But then, those games require thought, so it might go over most of the CoD, run-and-gun gamers' heads +_+
