Xbox 360

Culdcept Saga, this name was more about laughing at the bad screenshots and videos than anything else for me until yesterday, when I put the DVD in my japanese 360 and lost 4 hours of my week-end playing this game. I was expecting to stop playing in disgust after 15 minutes, and there I was completely enjoying the experience! Describing the game in detail would be much too difficult for me, so I'll let you watch the videos (30 minutes!) and then feel free to ask me any question in the comments, I'll do my best to give you a reply.
I really hope this game will be released out of Asia, because this is certainly something completely different from anything I've ever played on the 360 or even anywhere else for that matter. It's really deep, and really well thought out. So yes it's not the best game out there technically, but the art direction is mostly excellent so it's not as much of an issue as I thought it would be.

With it being in Japanese was it difficult to know what was going on ? (gameplay wise)

Is it region free by the way :P

It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be, most cards have a pretty straightforward usage. Some require a bit more experimentation though :)
As for it being region free, sorry no.

Wohoo one of my favorite games for the Ps2 :D (the original one was released here in the west, though not the sequel).
And i'm quite sure they have confirmed it for america atleast (lets just hope we people in europe get it or the american version is regionfree).

Some english screenshots to further show proof of it coming out inte the west :)

Well, Culdcept Saga is awesome in gameplay (and music, of course!!) but it also have a lot of flaws like "slow down" "froze up" "laggy in Live" "UI and playability" etc. Japanese fans are now asking devs to fix them, They announced upcoming patch will fix some of these problems in December, but we believe they can't fix all of them by tiny patch.

I think better version will come for later release in NA and other regions, like From Software did in [eM].
In last issue of FamitsuXbox, They mentioned NA release to come in 2007, other regions are still TBA though.

wow, i guess this is not my cup of tea... what a borefest :/
is it all just a card game with bazillions of stats screens? i mean, turn based games bore me to tears, but this is even worse - taking turns to play cards? zZz

nice graphics though - outside of the card stuff...

There are many many bugs in this game now.

extreme frame rate drop,
cant do sound volume adjustment,
Game progress sometimes stops because of the AI bug.
And game progress is very slow because You cannot turn off an graphic effect.
etc

Especially,A network mode includes a fatal bug.
You will freeze with high probability in multiplaymode.
When a patch comes in the middle of December, there was a notice, but a problem will not be completely revised.

Culdcept Saga is a really interesting game, but a program is unpolished.

"Do you have dreams of stars falling from darkness" lol, bad dialogue, BUT superb lip synching for English. English dubbing but Japanese text? Seems realllllllllllllllllllllllllllly boring, not even FMVs of attacks yet.

probally the main character is a male teenager with serious confusion to the world around him, teams up with people by force, who later he developes a friendship with, and of course maybe two of them are female one is too young to be with him so just has a silly crush on him, while the other one slowly falls in love with him even though he pisses her off

and they save the world.

probally about right, what you think jolli ?

Finally watched the second video, Servers are a bit slow .. :S

Anyways man that battle was drawn out, so what was the point ?

You have to make it round the board a certain amount of times ?

It did look fun though.

Basically you have first to reach a certain cumulated number of G, here 5000, and then be the the first to reach the castle after clearing all "checkpoints".
This was the tutorial level with a very simple layout, but later levels are much more complex, with lots of checkpoints.

Yes. The main point is to level up the lands so that they are worth more toll when you opponent lands on them. That's how you get more G faster. There are all sorts of evil cards that force your opponent to roll 1's or move backwards or stop them from moving entirely.
