The first 10 minutes : Far Cry Instincts Predator

Xbox 360

March has been a great month for Xbox 360 releases, with true masterpieces but also with more opportunistic games like Far Cry Instincts Predator. This game is far from ugly, but it's still an almost 1 to 1 copy/paste of the first game and its addon with a new layer of paint. Ubisoft also had the nice idea to include both FCI and FCIE levels in the game, but the Evolution part has to be unlocked by finishing all of the first part first. A not so nice idea for those who have already finished it on Xbox, but a cheat code seems to be already available. For the gameplay impressions, Snoopers will give you all the detail tomorrow with the first 10 minutes of Far Cry Instincts: Evolution.

The game IS ugly. May not be X-men ugly, but it is gly. Remember, we have been playing the same game on Xbox with lesser looking water and lower res textures. That's not a next gen game, that's an great looking last gen game on a next gen console, which translates to UGLY.

It seems that the only thing dramatically improved was the water effects. Other than that it looks like the exact same thing.

P.D. BlimBlim, I've noticed some kind of blur in these screens and in BF2 for the 360. Is there a problem with the screens compression or something similar?

i dunno what to say, this game doesn't look bad but it also doesn't blow me away. my expectations (pre-MTV05) were much higher but it seems that a lot of publisher want to make quick cash with xbox360.

The 640x360 version is 11 minutes long. I forgot to put (parts) in the description of the 720p one.

Is crysis a sequel to this, or are they totally different games? confused.com

Crysis is developed by the original devs of Far Cry on PC.
Far Cry Instincts uses the original Far Cry engine (with a lots of tweaks) but is developed by Ubisoft Montreal.

Sounds like good news. Considering EA has joined in, it will be interesting to see if the 360 gets a teaked version aswell.

I think the graphics are the same as the xbox because it is not the next chapter of Predator. You know the thing with 2 games in 1. Well I think for Instincts they improved the water but nothing else really. Until the Predator is unlocked thats then the graphics kicks in. Just a theory though. Because by the screenshots out on FCIP on IGN and Gamespot the detail on the guns and all are way too good. And then on this video it feels its not the same version.

I'm personally looking forward to the 'fresh coat of paint' that the new graphics put on! I really enjoyed Instincts and don't dread going through it again - this time with jaw dropping water.

Scarface - that video of 'Crysis' had "Exclusively for the PC" all over the place- how did you miss that?!

My only gripe with this version of Instincts is that you can't transfer over your Maps from the first. I mean, if you have to post them on the network to share them, you should be able to download them to the new graphics...? Right? That doesn't seem so difficult (although, I admit I don't know crap about programming so- maybe it's a lot more complicated than that).

As far as this being a 'quick buck' for Ubi by putting it on the 360... keep in mind that EA is now in the Ubisoft mix. EA=Cookie cutter crap software... and look where that's gotten EA???

Some things look really nice. Like the speed boat or the small waves. Other parts look just like what Blim said: upgraded Xbox version with new paint.

I don't get the "That's ugly on 360 but it's great on Xbox", a game is either bad-looking or good-looking, (And sometimes in the between) no matter on what system it is (Well, we can say that's look good for some systems but that's doesn't mean it look good, know what Im trying to say?). Anyway, even if the 360 can do better this one looks great. I just hope the gameplay is more balanced than the Far Cry: Instincts on Xbox (Like the A.I that sucked and the very resistant enemy).
