First 10 minutes PC Xbox 360 PS3

Gatling Gears was released last Wednesday on Xbox Live Arcade and is in fact a good old shoot them up that will remind a lot of the old Run and Gun games of yore. It sure does not bring much to the genre but the game is still a solid title to play alone or with a friend (local or online). There are 6 chapters (including the prologue), each being composed of 5 levels. Each chapter ends with a boss fight that you have to take down in 3 steps without any checkpoints to make it easy on you. The game is actually quite challenging in medium and hard mode but it should not take you more than 6 hours to complete. The question is, are you ready to pay 1200 Microsoft points to get it? The answer is really up to you, so give our videos a look or, better yet, try the demo.

Couldn't find it on Steam.

Looks like the PC release is "Spring 2011" and the PS3 release is TBD (of course).

I'll be getting my copy when it's released.

Game looks damn good !
Reminds me of Progear a classic Cave shoot em up !
1200 seems fair to me when I see how polished and detailed it looks, awesome !
The Artwork and over all art design is amazing too, steampunk and flying islands,atmosphere..you are in the middle of the Battle WOW..Cool old school action !

Wish the would do much more games like these ,miss them !

So that's another twin shooter then.XBLA is filled with some excellent games but such a lot of other stuff that although not entirely dreadful, isn't exactly brilliant either

I grew up loving all types of shooters platformers etc and i think that's why xbla for the most part represents boredom.A lot of what's on xbla is playable in a fun enough way but i've been playing fun enough games of the type that are there since before the 90's.All it really is now is that they're in 3d

And i say again, it's not that most of the games are dreadful but merely fun enough in that predictable way we've seen way too many times before

Top down shooters too in general other than additions of tweaked additions, exactly the same.Great if you only want to play the same again and again but quite honestly for someone like myself- and i can't be the only one- i may as well just play those older games dear to me in the first place. An example could be if hundreds of Black Tiger variants were realeased over the course of a few years like this would somehow be acceptable- were they following a very similar structure say like how a very similar structure of most vertical shooters is used

Same argument you can throw at FPS of course and it holds up perfectly well actually.Any genre should have more and more games coming out but not when they're so rigidly designed around exactly the same main template with little addition to mechanics- for which really isn't much enough to convince you it's any different anyway. That's more the trouble with something like these now 2d made to 3d games anyhow being 99% of them are either just with gimmick mechanics that do nothing to hide it's the same thing really underneath all of it, or just swapping out graphic themes

Some gamers may not be sick of it yet but they will eventually just in time for a crash hopefully

No problems for me because i just wont buy anything i don't like and i can play whatever i do but it think it shows just how accepting of guff we gamers are

I don't know what this game is even like so i'm actually not slagging on this one

Thankfully there is at least some really good stuff that xbla does have

Progear was awesome, I had not made the connection but they are both steampunk inspired shooters with a similar style.

I also lament the lack of these types of games these days but this one looks like a worthy addition with very decent campaign length and customization options. The upcoming Renegade Ops also looks nice with a more contemporary war feel...

Hopefully this will be in the PSN store when it finally comes back, it was announced for 18 May before the giant fuckup.
