Besides that it looks cool
Personally, I really like the new direction. Never was a big fan of all the WAY over the top cheesy festival (Dirt 2) style atmosphere. As a snowboarder, I'm glad they are just focusing on the mountain as the main attraction. As the video shows, you don't need animated snowmen, EXTREME attitude, roller coasters, and pointless, out of place obstacles to make interesting environments. I had no idea this was shaping up so well!

i dont mind this "realistic" mountain approach as long as it is intersperced with a LOT of manmade structures and that party/sports event atmosphere. the course with the red pipeline shows promis, but it's not enough.
i just miss the colourfull crazyness that had a really fun atmosphere. now it's a little bit shaun white...which kinda depresses me. i mean, i love the idea of the "deadly descents", with the low oxygen, the avelances etc, i love the idea of the icepicks and squirel suits. i just wish it was all in a package that was stylistically more SSX.
i think it's pretty clear that this game has gone through a bit of a splinter cell re-think due to fan backlash tho. this is blatantly not the game the devs intended on making (thank god). and certainly not the game that matches the initial announcement trailer. hell, i dont think they even planned on having the characters return. so i appreciate that it has a lot of elements i liked about SSX, i just wish it would take a step further and become a game i would LOVE.
