Here is a third Dev Diary for Homefront, this time focused on the characters of the game. Here at Gamersyde, we are pretty impatient to have our first hands-on.
the fact they havnt shown anything substantial gameplay wise is incredibly worrying. it looks a lot like half life 2 stylistically, which is a huge compliment, but not showing anything from the game doesnt exactly fill me with confidence. hell, the devs themsevles must be pretty ashamed of their creation if they're not willing to show it. i predict a failure, much like frontlines.

I'm not sure which is more ridiculous: saying it's a first day purchase despite not being shown anything substantial, or more or less writing it off because it... well, hasn't shown anything substantial.

Err, no? I didn't say it was a good thing, nor is it necessarily a bad thing. It's a dev diary focused on the game's story, so it's not exactly surprising that we saw a lot of cutscenes and little segments of gameplay.
Besides, they have shown stuff. Just search 'Homefront gameplay' on Youtube and then pick whichever video takes your fancy - the game actually looks pretty good.
i take my half life 2 compliment back, it looks like shit. like some poor man's call of duty with even more retarded AI. i definately stand by my prediction of a failure. this is definately going to go the way of frontlines.

Puh-leeease. Everyone here knows you would have said it looked shite no matter how it actually looks - almost impossible to tell from 4 minutes of footage, although it's certainly not as bad as Frontlines! - just to prove your point. Unless it was a PS3 exclusive of course.

yep.. a year old build. Kinda like the build they showed of UC2 the other week... which i dont recall Korndog complaining about the terrible hit detection shown..why? because you know...games got a year of developement time left yet..

You don't need to go that far, the ps3 version will be complete poop. Going by what was shown of the 360 multi beta, it looks like ass, a really bad made port.

it was more the fact i didnt see the "problems" with the hit detection. the dev time left had little to do with it. plus i'm an uncharted fanboy. the game can do no wrong in my eyes (unless it's a god awfull jet ski section). this however, this is quite the opposite. i call it as i see it. i see AI running not only at the player, but PAST the player, PAST firendly AI, only for them to not do a thing about it. i see gameplay that mirrors COD, but in a pretty half assed way, and i see visuals that dont exactly quench my graphic whore thirst (when i said it looked like half life 2, i meant in in every sense of the word, including rediculously low res textures). meh, crap game is crap. but i'll leave you all to enjoy it, well, the one or 2 that remain possitive about this POS.

However I do agree, this is an old build and they've likely fixed most problems present by now
