Crystal Dynamics celebrates 15 years of Tomb Raider with a digital art showcase. The exhibition has started at the beginning of the month featuring various artists. You will find below the celebration recap and details.

every each one of these artists had a history with lara Croft .. and this project was for them to re imagine Lara in upcoming game ... so i think they're just fine

Well seeing as how they are just doing their version of the new design i pretty much just look at the quality of the work. I also perosnally like people who are good with color and rendering so extra points for#5 in my book :)
I can't wait for the new Tomb Raider game. Alotta people thought 'Oh god...CD goes to Square Enix and it will go all Final Fantasy Lara Croft' but none of that. Awesome.

I'm pretty sure Square Enix aquired Eidos because they realize that the Japanese market is small and the rest of the world is big. They didn't get Eidos to japanify, they got Edios to get a foot in the door of the rest of the available market. Don't think you'll have to worry about things like that happening :P

Oh brother... so you are finally turning 15 year old Lara, yum yum yum Lara, you are getting closer and closer to being legal oh wait what country or state do you live in cause it also depends, if you live in the south their laws are "special"...
Getting serious though this franchise's best days were in the 90s, it never came back and that new gen pre-Tomb Raider Lara prequel whatever is not very convincing as something to really care about, it reeks too much of taking from other games and unrealistic injuries to be a cartoon, I mean really a rusty spike through the side of the stomach and she can make it roughly a mile tru a dark, damp, bacteria and probably parasite infested tunnel and she is younger than 20!! just give her lazer guns and it will be believable as a videogame.
As a Japanese, I have to mention that catastrophically cheap rendition of Japanese art style in the last pic. That caption is awkward and incomplete: "A survivor is given bir" (th)

Yeah these are almost all pretty shit, with glaring failures in anatomy or just general skill/ imagination. It would have been great to see a tribute from some real skilled comics or concept artists but I guess the whole thing was done "on the cheap".

well it was just a demo . they really have so little time to show gameplay , action scenes and everything on shows like E3 so they need to keep their demos short but pretty much show eveything they've been working on over last years in the demo at same time . so it's really normal to see wierd stuff like that spike .. or jumping and climbing . and there will be alot changes in these kinda levels .. so cool down :D oh and i've heard lara is gonna fight a Wolf in that Cave too whatever .
emm don't get me wrong im not takin sides or anything just saying the truth . i don't even like the Reboot :| me myself want the previous lara croft back

Sorry, but that's just bollocks. #1 and #5 are fantastic, especially 5, which is more the style I would come up with. I can't spot any flaws that you mention in those, and the light is pretty much spot on. Decent art from decent artists. The rest are open to opinion given the abstract nature of the styles.
