Trailer PS4

SEGA has released a new trailer of Yakuza 0 and revealed The Business Edition of the game which includes a steel card holder and three business cards. Regarding rumors about a PC port, the publisher released this statement: "All that is confirmed and all that players should expect is a PlayStation 4 release. There is no PC version in production." The game will hit PS4 at retail and digitally on January 24.

Wow, SEGA going pretty full on with that 'Business Edition'. Though I will be getting it digital, it's great to see.

I have bought, enjoyed and Platinum'ed (excl. Y5 for now) every Yakuza game and will continue to do so. Game looks great.

Yakuza 6 looks amazing but its sad to think about how long it will take to come here. The annoying thing is that it takes so long but its just English sub (which i prefer) so why does it take 3 years or more? Sega should recognize that there is plenty of interest for yakuza in the west and put more resources into localization.

there isn't, and sega know that. it's the reason they take so long to release over here and it's the reason we stopped getting english dubs (why bother putting in the effort for something that sells so little). the demand for the series isn't high enough to release the game worldwide day and date with japan...generally people don't care when they get it, they just feel lucky they're getting it at all since it's pretty much a dead series outside of japan.

Im not saying day 1 worldwide release but 3 years is ridiculous today. Also did yakuza 5 sell well?

I think they kinda realize that the audience of Yakuza would probably ratehr play it with Japanese voice overs anyway. It both saves money and keeps the fans happy. The english voice acting in Yakuza 1 is so bad it basically makes the game unplayable, and the sort of drama and theatrics that we see in thos games, well it just doesn't work in english. In my opinion.

Though it's certainly a niche game series, but i also agree that taking 3 years to localize a game is a wee bit on the slow side. I mean, how do they even save money by taking so long

toelessfoot Right. I think programmable shaders were adopted fairly early on consoles (xbox360/ps3) (1 Day ago)

MrWhite @toelessfoot: Well, only recently they have been. I think this is the first gen I've seen where PC's are playing catch up. Not through hardware power, but through development cycles (1 Day ago)

  • toelessfoot

toelessfoot Yeah I think innovations on the console side are taken up more quickly by PC than vice versa because consoles are really lead platform for everything (1 Day ago)

MrWhite At least for most gamers. Similar to when everything went to pci-e (2 Days ago)

  • MrWhite

MrWhite I think we could be seeing a dramatic shift in PC hardware where it'll be essential to own both an SSD and a next gen card with the api's to use them. That also would probably require new motherboards (2 Days ago)

MrWhite If a game is built from the ground up to take advantage of that, though... (2 Days ago)
