2011 list -

1- Skyrim - Excellent all round game, had the most fun i've had with a game all last year.

2- Gears Of War 3 - Brilliant finish to the trilogy, what a ride.

3- Batman AC - Improved on the first, excellent game.

4- LA Niore - Fresh gaming experience, loved it.

5- Forza 4 - Best and most polished Sim Racer i've played period.

I played Battlefield 3, Portal 2, and Deus Ex as well, but none came across as anything I'd like to list personally.
I tried Witcher 2 a little but haven't played enough yet to form an opinion. I want to get my hands on Skyrim.

I just started playing Batman (played it a lot, the game is long) and am really enjoying it and the improvements made to its gameplay.

Yeah for me FPS haven't been special in a long time. Been playing them for 15+ years and they're getting tired. Even in games like Portal 2.

I went back and played an FPS that I used to run around in in middle school and had more fun with that then what's going on right now.

The whole Modern Warfare/COD game play style turns me off on such a level, that what it's done to the Battlefield franchise is too polarizing.


I appreciate Dead Space 2 because a game that can scare the shit out of me and make for an always intense experience is always great.
The elements that make up Dead Space are just clever and well executed in general.

Same goes for the now fantastic Batman franchise.
I appreciate a well made, polished game more than ever these days.

1. Dark Souls : This game made me feel like I was eleven again. A game that didn't treat me like an idiot. Amazing everything. Superb, would play again A+++++

2. Deus Ex:HR : Another game that took me back, but to a more recent time. Reminded me a lot of Splinter Cell (pre Conviction) which I hear is a lot like the first Deus Ex. Loved the style and the world. Really well designed.

3. Bastion : I did not anticipate how much I'd love this game. Everything from that amazing soundtrack to the immersive story impressed me and again (I'm picking up a theme here) this game felt like it had a very old-school ethos to it. Plus, it probably has my favourite ending of the year.

4. Binding of Isaac : I'm not much of a connoisseur of Roguelikes, but that changed when I played Isaac. Who knew wearing your mum's heels and lipstick whilst blasting hot fiery death upon your enemies was so much fun.

5. TES: Skyrim : Impossible for this game not to be on my list, I enjoyed the hell out of it. Not without its many flaws; but despite them it's still fecking good.

Honourable mentions: Civ:V I've recently been addicted to. "Just one more turn!"
There are still so many games I've got to get round to playing (thanks Steam), Portal 2, Terraria, Shogun 2, Cave Story.. the list is long! 2011 was another great year in games I reckon. Indies are looking great! Humble bundle FTW.

I've got a confesion. I woted before actually finishing Dark souls, but i managed to beat it last night so i made it on time. It was a close call though :D
