Beware of the Yeti in Far Cry 4

After the joke that the first DLC of Far Cry 4 was, Ubisoft is back with something a lot more consistent. With a brand new open world location set in the Himalayas, the developers have managed to create a much more appealing package at first glance. The map is obviously much smaller than in the original game, but after the disappointment that was the absence of an open world environment so high up in the mountains, it's nice to finally be able to wander aimlessly in the cold wild. The adventure takes place over several days, each of them ending with a tower defense sequence in which you must resist the massive assault of enemies. Things get tougher and tougher as you progress but you can upgrade your base and add explosive barrels for example. Check out our videos of the PS4 version inside!

Far Cry 4: Valley of the Yetis trailer

The new content for Far Cry 4, Valley of the Yetis, will be out on March 10th has announced Ubisoft. Players will take control of Ajay after the helicopter crash on a Himalayan ridge. Then, they'll have to capture a camp and guard it from a mysterious cult and beware of yetis lurking in the shadows.

Escape from Durgesh Prison videos

This first Far Cry 4 DLC was promising on paper but in the end, it is absolutely not what the game needed to make us want to come back for more. Instead of proposing something fresh and new, the content is basically that of a Rogue-like in which you have to play the same mission over and over again to try to defeat the massive waves of ennemies. Since perma death has been added and the skills you must earn again (no matter what you did in the single player campaign) remain yours when you try again, the key to success is to farm. Playing co-op helps a little, but barely, since you'll still die and try again many times over. On top of that, there are no new locations to visit, making the timer the only true addition to the original game. Needless to say we find it a bit expensive for the package deal.

Our PC videos of Far Cry 4

Following our videos of the console versions of Far Cry 4, here are a few PC videos captured in 1080p and 60 frames per second. Note that the game version is 1.0.3 in these videos and suffers from some glitches at times (dark sky in the first three videos and blurry images during fast movements).

Our Xbox One videos of Far Cry 4

As usual now, we continue our coverage of games on different platforms and it is the turn of the Xbox One version of Far Cry 4 which, to us, looks perfectly identical to its PS4 counterpart. There may be differences but quite honestly, we didn't see them at all. You'll note that we deactivated the crosshair and a few HUD options to make the game even more immersive. Again, we should all thank the Xbox network for sending us a code.

Our first PC video of Far Cry 4

Since we wanted to try out our new capture PC (which can record high quality PC footage on our second PC without risking to hit the game's performance), we launched the PC version of Far Cry 4 before heading straight to bed. Unfortunately, depsite our good rig (i5 4670K @ 4.0 GHz, 8 Go RAM, Nvidia Geforce GTX 970 Gigabyte OC), we haven't managed to reach a steady 60 fps even when turning down a few things. Hopefully, you'll enjoy the video anyway.

Far Cry 4 replays are now live

After a few hiccups during the French stream, everything went rather smoothly during this new Gamersyde Live dedicated to Far Cry 4. We definitely had some fun playing tonight and we strongly advise you check both lives to make sure you don't miss the highlights on both sides since they are clearly worth it. You'll get to see Davton's passion for off-water swimming, but also how the Gamersyde team gets rid of annoying choppers or badass badgers. As usual, remember the stream will take a while to be ready as both lives are a lot longer than our normal videos.

Our PS4 videos of Far Cry 4

The embargo concerning Far Cry 4 was lifted yesterday and that's exactly when we got our copy of the game. Needless to say we haven't been able to play much since then, so we can't really tell you if it's worth it or not. So far, it's quite similar to the previous episode but it looks undeniably better, even when comparing the PC version of Far Cry 3 to the PS4 version of the fourth installment in the franchise. After Assassin's Creed Unity, you'll be glad to hear that the game's performance is very solid, with a steady 30 fps in almost all circumstances. If these videos aren't enough, you should know that we'll be live tomorrow at 10:00 p.m. GMT+1 with Davton who will join us for some co-op action.
Update: 4 videos added.
