Hmmm odd looking. Will wait to see more as the first shots were really good. Note to FR: Get a good media manager!

Well the Timesplitters games weren't exactly graphical masterpieces were they?

I expect this to be fun and little more. Maybe they will surprise me!

technically speaking however, the timesplitters series where masterpieces. both in terms of control (free radical got all the good rare memebers that handles gameplay and control, rare are left with the graphical guys who dont know a thing about art style....PDZ being a fine example) framerate was also top notch, flawless, so if this game has to sacrafise a little graphical effects to retain a steady 60FPS, then im happy. cos so far some games push graphics to such an extreme degree that the game suffers from a technical standpoint.

Only five people from Rare formed Free Radical. People always seem to think it was half the company.

Yes, but if you take 5 senior designers who are longtime professionals in the industry that is significant. A good 75% of a development team are replacable--even mid project. It happens a lot where people don't even finish a project before they are on to the next. Based on TS2 I would have to say whoever Free Radical got from Rare and other places they definately got talented folks. Most FPS from new dev houses... stink with rare exception (Far Cry, CoR being a couple examples of exceptions). FR did some good stuff with their series -- varied environments, unique weapons, online and 4 player split screen with a TON of options, silky smooth framerates, humor -- and I expect more of the same from them.

Only a couple of them were senior designers.

The Timesplitters games were fun, but they felt ever so floaty and lacked a real cohesion that even some of the Perfect Dark Zero levels accomplished.

There are some cracking levels and the multiplayer is a blast for a while.

The story doesn't hold together whatsoever and there are also some nasty filler levels.

The character models are ugly as sin but it suits the cannon fodder bad guys.

People complained about the aiming but it made sense to me, it gets slower as you zoom in so you can make fine adjustments.

Get it cheap or pre-owned and you'll have a good little game on your hands.

Í really enjoyed PDZ but on normal it was too hard for me. Playing 30mins. on a level, then get spotted and you can start it all over again . . ... . happened a few times too often for my taste ;)

Oh man I can't believe people actually think Far Cry was good :/ That game was so average to me.. only having nice graphics.

I'd be careful judging this game graphically based on screens. These games usually always look better on an hdtv anyway.

I came in here basically to say the same thing. Time Splitters aren't exactly graphical masterpieces..

Yeah we've heard it like a thousand times already.. despite being so well received everyone here thinks Far Cry is trash.. and likewise expect the same out of Crysis. It's infinitely better than PDZ (for its time) that's for sure.

Why bring up Far Cry / Crysis anyway? Is it because Haze seems to be taking a simular direction? I wonder if that really goes any deeper than the surface though.. I'm expecting more of a Time Splitters than a Far Cry. Which I'm guessing would please their audience most too.

Sooo different too. I should be more fare to PDZ.. I really could never get past the first level before I gave up on the campaign, and I was deep into BF2 when it came out so the multiplayer didn't really interest me.. and I think Joanna Dark is fugly in that game :P

I think Haze will be interesting. It has more of a chance of being a good game than a lot of the other fps games coming up.. it's just going to have to deal with Halo too. Probably not a good time to be a 360 first person shooter that's not Halo.

Timesplitters was fun though.

Definitely. Though the solo stuff isn't really worth bothering with. It's okay on "agent" difficulty alone, but later difficulties (that increase the fun you have in co-op by adding extra objectives, cooler weapons, multiple paths) just has the AI of allies getting on your tits again and again.

In co-op though it's still one of my favourite games on the system. It's lengthy, gob smackingly beautiful from time to time (jungle and temple levels especially), got a fantastic soundtrack and great weaponry.

In the preview there is something about this game being Far Cry wannabe - FRD after last E3 left impression that it might be something similar to FC, but in fact it will be completely different (other than some levels taking place in jungle).
