I wonder what September will look like after MS dropped the price..

At this rate the PS3 will never catch the 360 (in the US)..

Rumours has it that 360 sales doubled following the price cut. It would be interesting to see if it holds up though. MS is doing very well in the US. The trouble is Europe. I am not even gonna mention Japan buit considering that the 360 is already about 100k past the original xbox total lifetime sales over there I guess it's good news for MS anyway.

The trouble is Europe
I read and hear that a lot, but I've never seen actual numbers.. I somehow doubt the PS3 is really outselling the 360 by much in Europe, if at all..

And I don't think the PS3 is doing so well in Japan either.. They only sell a couple of thousand a week more then the Xbox 360 overthere.. I think the PS3 really needs to start outselling the Xbox 360 in the US aswell to catch it overall..

It will probably happen in the long run, but not in 2008, maybe not even in 2009 yet.. The PS3 needs to drop in price first, and get more systemselling exclusive games.. And I think by the time Sony is catching them, MS will already have announced their next-gen Xbox (or at least there will be some news about it).. As a core gamer and relative early adopter I will offcourse only be interested in that (current-gen is not that interesting anymore already, being almost 3 years old now)..

"Coming off the heels of the console price drop last week, Microsoft Xbox 360 sales have surged, with retailers reporting over 100 percent sales lift for all Xbox 360 models compared to the previous weekend," the company said.

"Additionally, retailers are reporting that between Friday, Sept. 5 and Sunday, Sept. 7, some Xbox 360 models were selling at six times the rate they were the weekend prior."

On September 5, the entry-level Xbox 360 Arcade dropped in price from $279 to $199, making it the cheapest current generation console on the market, while the Xbox 360 Pro 60GB and the 120GB Xbox 360 Elite were reduced by $50, to $299 and $399 respectively

Yeah, the 360 is in BIG shortage in Japan at the moment.
For MS's sake I seriously hope that's the cause, because selling just 840 in a week in a country that has over 100 million people is just pathetic..

But like I said, PS3 is relativly not doing to well either overthere.. Even with these pathetic 360 numbers it only sells about 30000 more a month..
