A love of cars lives in all of us. “Forza Motorsport 3” is the automotive playground we’ve all been waiting for.

Features:

Where dreams are driven: The cars and tracks. Featuring the latest and greatest production offerings as well as the world’s fastest and most exotic street cars, “Forza Motorsport 3” offers more than 400 fully customizable and tunable cars from over 50 of the world’s leading manufacturers. Whether your passion is classic American muscle cars, European roadsters, purpose-built race cars or high-tech Asian imports, “Forza Motorsport 3” puts you in the cockpit of the cars you love. In addition to the return of world-famous tracks from previous “Forza Motorsport” games, including Suzuka, Nürburgring Nordschleife and the Sebring International Raceway, “Forza Motorsport 3” invites you to conquer the corners on more than 100 tracks, including some of the most beautiful road courses in the world. New environments like the gorgeous mountainous Montserrat region in Spain, the rugged Amalfi Coast in Italy and the American Southwest are presented in such majestic detail that you might find yourself pulling over just to take it all in.

The look and feel of a modern racing game:

Forza is the definitive racing game. “Forza Motorsport’s” appreciation of the automobile is due in large part to the team’s attention to detail. This is why automotive engineers from manufacturers like Audi and champion race teams like Peugeot as well as experienced computer graphics specialists from across Microsoft have all teamed up with Turn 10 to make “Forza Motorsport 3” the most beautiful and realistic racing game ever made. All 400-plus cars in the game have been built with more than 10 times the amount of polygons as “Forza Motorsport 2.” This includes painstakingly researched cockpits and interiors for every vehicle. But realism isn’t just about pretty graphics. Turn 10 takes realism to new heights, leading the industry with the most advanced physics model, artificial intelligence and damage calculations. Whether it’s the differences in how each car handles through the corners, how the engines sound at top speed or how different tires and upgrades impact your car’s performance, you’ll find yourself leaning into your turns as if you were really behind the wheel of your favorite ride.

It’s easy to go for a spin:

“Forza Motorsport 3” redefines the racing genre. Simulation games can be too hard for some players. “Forza Motorsport 3” rises above the distinction between simulation and arcade games. Using a myriad of cutting-edge driving and gameplay assist such as auto-braking, gameplay rewind and auto-tuning, “Forza Motorsport 3” delivers an experience where everyone can have fun behind the wheel, regardless of your skill and dexterity. Whether you’re a newcomer or a seasoned racing game pro, “Forza Motorsport 3” caters to how you drive and evolves with you over time as your skills increase.

Express your car passion: User-generated content and Xbox LIVE. Painters and tuners will once again be able to showcase creativity through the celebrated Livery Editor, Auction House and deep tuning garage in “Forza Motorsport 3.” The car is literally the artistic canvas as some of the world’s most creative car painters and designers find new layers of depth and freedom to create shocking visual masterpieces before sharing them with others over Xbox LIVE*. Each car in “Forza Motorsport 3” is fully upgradable, allowing gear heads to take on the challenge of turning a Honda Civic into a supercar killer. New Xbox LIVE Leaderboards celebrate not only the greatest racers but also the most prolific car tuners and painters in the community.

Play your way:

New game modes. “Forza Motorsport 3” is an epic racing game featuring more content and more ways to play than any racing title today. An innovative single-player season mode puts you through a completely personalized racing calendar that includes more than 200 different events, including Circuit, Oval, Drag, Drift and Timed Events. No two calendars are the same; they react to the cars you love and the races you enjoy most. In addition, the online multiplayer mode* gains an all-new game rules editor. This gives players a never-ending variety of ways to play with friends. Whether you’re a speedster, dragster, drifter, painter, tuner or just a lover of cars, “Forza Motorsport 3” is the definitive racing game for you.

What's crazy is that I really do feel this thing, during actually gameplay, looks significantly better than it does in it's replay mode :o

So we finally get the sequal to FM1! :P It looks ok, the features look great though. Some actually gameplay (not video) of a real race would be great. MP race editor sounds great and I am hoping the rolling cars means they will have an "ultra" realistic mode where, you know, cars really get damaged realistically (FM2 was waaay too forgiving on Simulation mode). Still hoping for some splitscreen action with AI or online. Sadly still looks like 8 car limit.

Car models and lighting is getting up there to GT5 at least in screens. I'm not completely convinced the car lighting is better or as good judging from the gameplay video though, but it's a definite improvement over F2.

The 2 cars are under completely different lighting conditions and environments, but you only have to look at how the cars blend in with the rest of the game.

Those are some bold claims by Turn 10. Best looking racing game ever? I don't know guys, GT5 is looking f*** awesome in terms of graphics, not to mention the fact that they are running double the cars (yet half the physics?). We need screenshots that are more comparable.

So truly bold claims there, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. It looks like once again we have missed out on weather and "real-time" time of day transition. It does make me happy though that they have bothered at least, unlike last time. Improvement over FM2? Come on, it's like day and night, that's a total understatement.

100 tracks? WTF does that mean? When will they learn to specify the ACTUAL number of tracks? Tsukuba is Tsukuba, reverse, a couple of different turns and its reversed versions should not be used to come up with this ridiculous number of tracks.

So I'm definitely looking forward to this game, but I can say I won't take anything coming out of Turn10 for granted. Till I see it in gameplay I'll believe it.

Is anyone skeptical about the October release too? They've done this twice before, 2010 sounds more believable.

Why? It looks normal to me. Perhaps it's a replay (more AA), but it better look like that at least.

I don't even think screenshots will do it because they can always take a screenshot at certain angles where the car lighting looks better than in other views. It's mainly going to come down to us playing and comparing with our own eyes.

Anyway, I think GT5 looks great, but to me the environments are pretty average looking. You can easily tell in the snowy mountain stage that the mountain is low poly with an image bitmap pasted over it, not to mention the trees are all noticeably 2-D. There's also something about the pavement/road lighting that looks off to me.
100 tracks? WTF does that mean? When will they learn to specify the ACTUAL number of tracks? Tsukuba is Tsukuba, reverse, a couple of different turns and its reversed versions should not be used to come up with this ridiculous number of tracks.
Forza 2 had around 46 tracks in 12 environments, including reverse and such, and I think the retarded and hideous looking test track accounted for nearly half of it lol. Looks like F3 will have more scenic real-world environments like Spain rather than just profession circuit tracks though.
Is anyone skeptical about the October release too? They've done this twice before, 2010 sounds more believable.
Not at all. They already have the main physics engine written thanks to Forza 2's development, all they needed to do was remodel the cars and add more race tracks. And Forza 2 released two years after Forza 1, it would be another 2 years if Forza 3 releases this year. I just think Turn10 and MS decided to reveal the game later than what they had done for Forza 2.

Remember those horrible looking first Forza 2 shots? lol.

I'm pretty sure Turn10 is outsourcing most of the modeling work considering they managed to get detailed interiors for 400+ cars.

Well, i've always had the opinion that GT5 lighting isn't that great. The cars itself looks really good, but i've never had the feeling they've match the environment.

When i look at your link i see a high wall of buildings behind the cars and these buildings throw a dark shadow on the street (statically computed). Now look at the cars, they are totally bright, no shadows.

In my opinion even FM2 provides much better lighting than GT5. Sure, in many scenes GT5 cars looks simply awesome, but this is alsmost because of the high poly count. The lighting on the cars is really outdated. It's just not that noticable, because the cars are as bright as many most tracks of GT5.

i still think GT5 looks better visually, but it's nice to see turn 10 try this time around. not interested either way, same goes for the GT series. they're nice to show off the capabilities of a console (GT5 being close to photorealistic) but beyond that, i have very little interest in the sim racer genre. much more excited about the wipeout HD expansion.

I think this puts it alongside if not above GT5 in visual terms, the cars look a lot more solid and the aliasing along the edges of reflections look to be gone. Tracks are far better by the looks of things, much grander in scope rather than the enclosed tracks of F2.
Physics wise, GT doesnt even have scraping paint yet and this has total full on car rolling and destruction.

My only issue is the actual gameplay, GT has always been accessable for impatient people like me, any race that has 60+ laps you could let the AI race it for you and be at no real disadvantage, it meant that you could progress in the game without getting bored of it. F2 on the other hand i found very hard to keep into, so many long ass repetative races that you couldnt do without specific cars, you couldnt get those cars unless you did some other long ass races to get the money or some short races over and over again. Using the AI to drive meant you got next to no reward. It was totally inaccessable deeper into the game.

I pray they fix that, disable the achievments if they have to, but i dont have the effort in me to do 60 laps of the same track perfectly.

Does this game have HDR lighting? I was just watching the 720p version from gamersyde and the file e309_forza3 looks like it does.

If someone had some comparision vids in HD of Forza vs GT then that would be great.

The game is definately more visually impressive than GT5. Looks like it has a higher poly count on the car models and doesnt have the "toy plastic car" effect that GT5 has, not to mention the fact that GT5 doesnt even have vehicle damage.

It also seems to have true dynamic lighting which GT5 lacks. The difference in background scenery is MILES ahead so theres no point commenting about that.

I honestly cannot believe that turn 10 will have released 2 games in the time it has taken to produce GT5.

I have my doubts cause how did he so perfectly control the car while altering the camera angle multiple times. Maybe he's just far better than I am, but I'd spin out in an instant pulling crap like that :P

Seemed a bit too perfect especially the planned roll over.

Then again I doubt they'd mess around like that only for people to realize they were tricked later on.

I'm quite sure it's a replay. The car was meant to crash so it could flip to show off the new physics engine, and I don't think they'd be able to match the angle of the impact to reproduce it every time (unless it's unrealistic and you flip on every occasion, which would be bull).
