Cat is out of the bag I guess... IGN confirmed it, yes, fire selector is in #BF3. Yes on all platforms.
Good thing! I love having a fire selector! Long range single shot here we come!

Here's hoping for the comma-rose to return too. I have to admit, quick spotting is helpful (but please no 3D spotting!), but please don't make me search for a medic just so I can ask for a health pack.

I want stamina back too.

And please.. lighting alone propels BF3 far beyond that pic. Crysis is all about the pretty trees. Big whup.

The lighting and detail smokes Crysis 1. I've been playing Crysis on highest settings recently, and it doesn't even come close to this (BF3). You might say you like the setting better ( I'm pretty over the jungle setting, myself), but graphically, when you look, it's a pretty big difference. Not to mention the destruction will be better than Crysis ever had. The Tesselation aspects alone will bump detail to absurd levels...

I think you should be able to see the difference between a well animated and amazing lighting scene indoor/narrow streets versus a Jungle setting....

and when watching footage (or playing the game (Crysis) myself as I have it installed) like this one; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7p0IfjwUcE
You can't be serious and say that stuff looks better than the BF3 footage....

Yeah Comma rose was pretty sweet, stamina needs to be brought back too and those medic/support icons were great as well...

This game is not gonna look as good on consoles as it does on PC.
First of because of the above shown slides, this is DX11 developed game and since there is no DX 10 or DX 11 on any of the console's you won't have most of those visual goodies that you can see in this trailer..
oh, i know it's not going to look as good on consoles. but i hope the sacrafices made to the engine arnt as bad as what we've seen of crysis 2. i'd happily take a drop in texture res and lighting over bits of the scenery poping up only 3 ft in front of you ala crysis 2. i want it to look good and perform better then good. i'd expect it to look and move a bit better then BC2

Ahh my apologies. understood your post the wrong way then

I haven't played BC2 on the console's so I don't know how that looks/plays on it.
But considering some of the more advanced tech the are using for this engine I'm also curious how much of a loss this will have on consoles. Stuff like Tessellation and that advanced lighting are probably not gonna make it in....

I had the wrong expectations. I shouldn't have expected a squad shooter from DICE since they have no experience in that department. The SP doesn't look interesting to me. And since I'm not into MP (bec I always get a game past the hype), this game won't be bought. Most likely tried out at my friend's, who loves Battlefield 2.

I've heard that quite a few times, but I'm not really sure why. We haven't really seen enough gameplay to really judge stuff like mission design. Granted, following his crew through corridors and stuff is a little troublesome, but maybe it opens up a bit from time to time. With these huge cityscapes, it would be a real shame if they lock us down to a direct path. Not that I care that much about the campaign, but now that it features co-op I would like it to at least be a fun distraction from the real game.
I don'tknow, looks like typical COD affair to me - scripted friendly AI, enemy AI just jumping into your aim etc. maybe there's more to it, I certainly hope so.

I just think there's a lot of conclusions being drawn from three minutes of gameplay.

OUTSTANDING!!!

As long as the animations make it intact to the consoles, that alone will make it the best looking game to date!

I wouldn't worry about the animations not making it- it'll be poly-counts, particles, shaders, and lighting that will have to be scaled back...

I just saw the video, and couldnt believe how great it looks. Can't wait to see some multiplayer footage.

The end music is stuck in my head after seeing the video 5 times lol. For some reason, it reminds me the T2 main theme I dont know why.

Thing with Crysis is that parts of the game were very unoptimized...like the part where you jump up a small water fall and engage a dozen North Korean soldiers...or the part were you assault the village. Game looks great but it doesn't mean anything if the intense gun fights ruin the frame rate....

I played the game a few times with 5850 and that was my conclusion....and using 1.5 cpu cores doesn't help either. I will replay again with 6890 down the line and re asses the engine

Crysis was a benchmark game. Comparing Crysis to Battlefield 3 is pretty stupid

Maybe you want to show us a game that's on the same level of depth and complicated features as BF3 with better graphics.

It's a moot point since BF3 looks better than Crysis.

yup...gun fights are tight with no frame drops...the animation is superior and so is the lighting, the motion blur and the particle effects. I think the game as whole has more polygons than Crysis...it just looks so rich

The first time I saw the demo I asked Bach, the developer who showed me the game, where the Battlefield signatures were. I told him I'd seen what looked more like the competition's game or like the rebooted Medal of Honor from last year than it resembled what I think of when I imagine the sandbox, choice-filled gameplay of Battlefield. Later for that, DICE's Bach said. "We want to show we can do what everyone else was doing."
not a good sign of their development direction, not a good sign at all...

I truly could care less about the singleplayer, I still haven't touched BC2s SP and probably NEVER will. I could care less. I have played 300+ hours of the multiplayer though, and loved every minute of it.
