No doubt EA is awful. I'm just amazed Optimus is still alive, thought maybe he was lost at sea or something

Now, unlike the previous totally false assumption, this is a lot closer to the truth. Yes, my dear friend Scoobert, I was lost at sea, for a time... *dramatic stare at keyboard* but then the crisp 792p resolution of my trusty tablet map, which I totally forgot would be useful since it wasn't connected online 24/7, helped me navigate my way back home. If not for the kindness of two generous peasants also stuck at sea (Vita gamers), I might have never managed to get the battery charged.

A picture of what I look like today.

lol.. the secret sauce is back..

Just kidding.. I know it never went away!

It's a cool proof of concept but you have to keep aware that it's a controlled environment. Latency and connectivity issues will make deploying something like this difficult.

A lot of the Azure R&D seems perfect for the MMO space, where people need to be connected anyway. Plus, that genre presents a lot of unique challenges. MMORPGs are all so sterile, and MMO mobs are all so brain dead. Microsoft should work on a real "next gen" MMO where they deploy some of the cloud AI/Physics stuff into a real world game. Show people that it can really be done.

It is hard to believe something like that will be in near future. I also think if something like this possible then what will be the future of gaming consoles if some super computer is going to do all the processing via cloud computing.

Future of gaming consoles if a super computer is going to do all the processing?

I don't know, maybe voice commands and/or offer living room home entertainment all in one spot? oh wait...

So we're all doomed? What does that even have to do with that demo?

If distributed computing is the future, then...

1) It's not tomorrow's future.
2) You don't need a $500 console or "secret sauce" at all.

What do you mean? If it was my goal to try and sell you the xbox one you'd already be playing kinect sports at this moment with all the happiness in the world ;)

I mean that what gow_fan is suggesting leads more logically towards a dumb terminal future and not a "powerful console."

It doesn't really make a lot of sense to connect that to Microsoft's pitch. We could do that on a FireTV.

That's a big problem with Microsoft's message. They're pitching services but tying them down to an ecosystem with a guaranteed collapse. They've got one foot in the future but the other is planted very firmly in the past.

Okay...so isn't the "all-powerful console" PS4 or to take it further your PC? What would win the living room gaming (assuming the argument is a cloud-based power computing with extremely low latency sometime in the future) would be a console that encompasses an all-in-one entertainment (movies/music/video chat/voice interface/etc..). I don't see the reason of argument here, Grift.

In a future where you're relying on cloud computing, you won't need any of those things. Do you know what a dumb terminal is?

The thing that would "win the living room" wouldn't be an overpriced piece of kit, when all you need is a bare-bones platform to run remote software. It wouldn't be a machine from this generation period. And I'm not sure what playing videos and voice command has to do with it either. Something as simple as FireTV or a cell phone would pack enough horsepower.

Anyway.. it's not an argument. If Microsoft actually deploys this stuff, it won't be doing all of the heavy lifting any time soon. That's sorta the point, aint it?

And you have to wonder.. how practical are these enhancements for "offline" games?

They could go ahead and make the best MMORPG ever though. And they should!

Lmao the power of cloud and dx12 upgrade is another BS from Microsoft. I think the gap will remain same in future as PS4 is barely been pushed. But games are already looking great and easy to port on it. Xbone won't even come close this time

So PS4 top the chart on the US despite Titanfall release. http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2014-04-17-t...

On another note PS4 have sold to costumers worldwide more than 7 millions consoles while Xone have only sold to "retailers" 5 millions.

I have to say I'm surprise. I was expecting the XOne to top the charts this month with Titanfall plus the discount. I guess Sony is on a great roll.

Software sales are down 28% over last March too. I guess there weren't any big movers or shakers that month.

I expect another official price drop soon.. probably matching the recent "deals."

Titanfall is a good game, but not a system seller. Unless MS comes up with some amazing exclusives, I suspect the Xbox one will trail (aka lose) this generation by a large margin.
