No I agree, once the graphics awe wore off, I also didn't find myself too crazy about the first Crysis. I thought it was pretty overrated tbh.

I'm just hoping they can find a way to make the game feel more urgent and have a better sense of direct. Freedom is great, but that freedom needs a sense of direction all the same. Halo CE is probably the finest example of a game with a brilliant balance of freedom and direction, with wonderfully set up action peices along the way.

many games have introduced great new physics and graphics etc... but that balance from Halo CE is what so few shooters have anymore. I hope they can do this with Crysis 2 as the amazing tech is there, and the gameplay is polished well. The game just didn't have much direction or character at all. If they can fix that I think Crysis 2 should be a very fantastic game.

Suit looks almost identical Sath.

This game is going to be way too linear it seems. The first one wasn't exactly open world but it gave you a myriad of options on how to approach every encounter.

Suit comparison http://img3.abload.de/img/nanosuit1-2_incrysis_e1h...

They dont look almost identical to me.

The older one looks slicker and has more "stuff" to it with the glowing lights, poches...etc.
The new one looks "empty" compared to it and quite larger. Its okay, but I know it will grow on me I am sure.

Crysis is a very good FPS on top of all the graphical wowzery. I also prefer the old one, but if you think of it as a suit, the guy inside would have to be really skinny...

Lol, the suits are far, far from identical. I also prefer the old design. But, it's no dealbreaker or anything...

I think the first Crysis was pretty "meh". It wasn't terrible but it didn't do much to engage me either. Except for the graphics. Warhead was much more fun, i actually played through that as opposed to crysis, which in which i used a trainer to make myself immortal after half the game just so that i could see all the awesome locals :P

LOL, trainer :P

After I beat it around 5 times or so I started using unlimited speed and ammo (gotta love that default AR) and just have fun with it. Sure I die and all, but still. Unlimited speed and ammo is nice!

But yeah Warhead has nicer visuals, especially the explosions that looks ace. And the pacing of the action and action in general is more in Warhead.
I hope Crysis 2 follows in Warhead's footsteps but let us play as Nomad.

Well, I enjoyed it throughout, but I definitely found the action in Warhead more.. action packed. I thought Crysis had a compelling enough plot, great art direction, great music, pacing, etc. Oh, and gameplay. There's basically nothing I don't like about it. The multiplayer is a lot less interesting than it could have been, but it's difficult to get people to play a multiplayer game that has such demanding system requirements unless it's something really special, like Battlefield.

Hating on Crysis and calling it overrated is the equivalent of hating on EA back in 2007. It's the "cool" thing to do now as a gamer.

Really? It's the cool thing to hate on a 3 year old game? I didn't know that.

And so we're clear, is it considered hating on Crysis to have played it and simply not found it all that fun?

It's like when Doom 3 came out and everyone called it a tech demo, but worse, since Crysis is a much better game than that.

Is this game anything more than a merely functional FPS with impressive visuals? Because from what I've seen and played, it's a bad excuse for spending $2000 on a PC. Far Cry was a laughably bad FPS that was sweetened by its open ended design, but it was clunky, uninspired and downright depressing to play.
And this is supposed to be the pride of PC platform? No wonder people say PC gaming is dead. :/

The game had a great concept but Crytek sure knows how to botch something promising.
The AI was awful (and the retardedly generic combat banter didn't help one bit), the specific powers were mishandled ( I mean, what's the point of having this supposedly sci-fi-is-real suit if you can only use it for as long as a fat ass would run up and down a track) and the plot ... sigh....

If your game is lacking somewhere, and you know it's not your forte then try to make up for it. Crytek just isn't a very good dev. They're not very creative.
In my book they're still unproven. They're the superficial narcissists of the games industry, when you have studios making games about flower petals they're building a whole island just to watch it burn and get frozen. But where's the experience? It's just a tech demo of impressive technology, not anymore ingenious than Pong by today's standards.

Not worth the price of the disk and certainly not worth the system requirements.

Yeah, no. The gameplay rocks, and your misconceptions about the system requirements are ridiculous. Crysis isn't the reason that I play PC games, but the reason I played Crysis is because I have a PC that plays games. There's no $2000 investment for the sake of Crysis. Hell, there's no $2000 investment period. Just a tech demo my ass. Crysis has great gameplay. Crysis has a pretty solid story (it is a game after all). Crysis has good art direction. Crysis has good music. Crysis has good level design. It has everything that makes a game a game. The tech demo argument is worn out and just plain wrong.

Not very creative. I'm going back to just LOLing.

I'll agree that Crysis is not a tech demo, but I will also say that I was one of the many people who walked away without feeling like they played a truly great game. It had fun moments and was technically amazing, but the feel of the gameplay, much like their previous game, just didn't have the satisfying shooting that other shooters seem to have.

Also, the MP was just boring as hell to me. I couldn't get into that aspect of the game at all. The first part fighting humans was cool, but the alien levels got really old fast and basically the game just lacked direction, IMO opinion of course. The game was fun, but it didn't impress me the way I was expecting it to considering the amount of hype around it. But that's not as much the game's fault as the community around it, as well as my own personal taste in games.

But even so I'm still really interested in seeing what Crysis 2 has to offer. I have far more FPS friends who own a console so if I get enough of them together the MP this time might feel a little more fun, even if it does mean playing an inferior version of the game
