What? No they don't. They're just really poorly designed grenades. They're borderline useless! It's funny when I see people using them online.

Plasma grenades are the only real option, since sticks are the only way to be certain your grenade is going to actually work.

I don't know how useless they are, considering your shields are gone instantly if they fall anywhere within radius of your body. At least that's the way it feels in the campaign whenever those things come down near me. I would start running my ass off when a Knight threw one of those at me. It instantly turns the tides of any shootout, especially one going in your favor. I see the pulse grenade as not so much a killer, although it can certainly kill you, but as something that puts you at a tremendous disadvantage almost immediately.

A strategy I often use in campaign is I toss the pulse grenade purposely in areas where I don't expect the enemy to be standing, but where I would expect them to try and retreat towards when they are in trouble. I then come at them aggressively, often closing the distance between us, leaving them with just two choices, neither of which are good: 1 -- stay and keep taking direct hits, or 2 -- try to retreat and step right inside the pulse grenade's radius, likely dying instantly because they already took a decent bit of damage. I see the pulse grenade as more battlefield control than insta-kill. Other grenades don't stick around as long, so they don't offer the same strategic benefit, and the advantage over the sticky is there's not as great a need for precision.

So that's how I see the pulse grenades, battlefield control.

Btw, the Spartan Ops on Ragnorock -- Legendary (multiple waves of 4 hunters, mantises, drop ships, ghosts, etc) is EXACTLY what makes Halo great and a TON of fun 4 way.

I think they say difficulty ramps up according to the number of people playing in Spartan Ops? I need to give that a shot. Probably just going to purchase a year worth of Xbox live, and stop doing that month here, month there thing, I've been doing.

Also, does anybody agree that this is the most difficult halo title yet? Legendary on this thing was brutal. I initially played it on legendary, and have since stuck with Heroic. However, I'll probably give Legendary another shot, because there are some cool little changes that I liked. The grunts have some deadly fucking weapons more often... and you have to be much smarter in your weapon management. Guns you chose not to mess with or use because you thought you had enough firepower, you are really forced to readjust that kind of thinking. You're forced to explore more for whatever ammo or weapons might be lying around.

I've only been killed by a Pulse grenade once. It's not horribly useful. I thought if maybe you fired into the band it'd do more damage, but they don't. It's just a big dumb useless poop.

you tried it on 4 play pugs? (heroic) it is shit.

It is full of people who cry if you get a ghost and they don't and then spend the rest of the last half shooting your mech because you have most kills.. this is 9-10 games, not the games fault.

But yeah it is fantastic i love it :D

Side note after probably the 12th time of completing said level (i do the campaign challenge on said level if i can) this is still by far best opening to a game ever.

Yessir! I don't get some of the hate for SPOPs- It's like pure halo game-play heaven for me :) Sure the levels are recycled, but the friggin' enemy dump is challenging and super fun IMO. I'm enjoying the story bits too- Nothing too complicated, but keeps some context.

I always thought the Didact in H4 didn't match Bornstellar's attitude toward humans. Definitely more in line with the orignal Didact. Of course, it's possible that the Didacts memories/personality supplants Bornstellar's after the events in the book...

which makes them great because people just ignore there existence, spam them in the hill and watch all those shields vanish with now work what so ever :)

Plus it is fucking hilarious if someone gets full on killed by one lol

You say that, but I've seen your stats. You have 15 kills with them. You have 45 kills with Plasma. Your own stats prove you wrong :P.

And anyone could get kills with a flyswatter in King of the Hill :D. Any fool in the hill has no shields!

Yeah some guy trolled me the entire OPs mission yesterday, constantly ran me over (8 times) with his Ghost and then destroyed every Mech I tried to get into. No kick, no penalty, so he was able to grieve the whole team.

Well, the original Didact seemed to be gaining a measured respect for humanity, hence why I was surprised that either one of them had turned to this extent, but you are totally correct that this more accurately fits with the original Didact and not the Bornstellar Didact, who should most definitely be more accepting and respectful of human life, and who would likely also be far more strongly influenced by the Librarian's view on things. The final book will clear everything up.

i use them to rid them of Shields

and before you judge my profile my kid uses it as well :( and .. i will be honest, i'm getting really shit :( i don't know if it is because the game has changed so much and i'm still playing old school or just as i get older my reactions are shitter... what ever it is, it is depressing me :*(

Yep, they're pretty damn solid so far. They seem to be building towards the fact that there might just be some fairly vital information that can be acquired from studying the Promethean Knights. It's possible they may carry the secret to significantly extending the life of human artificial intelligence, but almost certainly carry the secret for how humanity might be able to preserve some of their best and brightest well into the future.

I wonder if ONI would attempt to somehow kill off Halsey if they knew of a way they could digitally encrypt a full copy of her brilliance and then turn her into an AI of some kind?
