Dammit. I missed the stream with my sporadic sleeping pattern, though it doesn't seem like I missed much.

From what I gather, Forgers have been waiting for this for years. Pretty huge announcement which can only lead to much better maps because 343i can't be bothered to continue making their own as they're swimming in that REQ money.

I tried Forge once. I can't make maps, can make fun arena variants though.

All the support content they realised after Halo 5 was not enough for you? I agree the REQs do suck but let's not forget how much support and content this game got after release.

Forge is pretty awesome on consoles. A lot of PC games offer full SDK support which is really a different level of user content. It would be interesting if they could make that a reality on consoles. Fallout 4 is kinda tiptoeing around those issues. Gettin' their feet wet. Maybe in the future we'll see better user content on consoles.

I'm not sure how much forge will benefit from 4K and mouse and keyboard support if it's the same tool set. Neat though. They should add some kind of game browser if they really want users to benefit from Forge. We were asking for that back in Halo 3.

I'd still like MCC on Windows. I still won't buy UWP software.

REQs don't actually suck... But them putting effort into a map pack or something doesn't make them money hence the overload of remix maps and 20 REQs we get with each update.

I do lines of REQs. I fucking love em'! It's a really surreal moment when you hold your 1st Halo: CE pistol and just rain death on people 3 headshots at a time. They abducted that gun straight from CE textures and all.

The post-game support has been great and free which is a good word. But despite a lot of what I believe 343i has accomplished with their direction of Halo, I can't deny the shoddiness of their maps. They're very uninspired compared to Halo 2 which still has the best map selection of any Halo and is unarguably the weakest link in 343's Halo. Bungie were/are very good at making asymmetry work in their map design, but 343i has a cuuurazy amount of symmetrical arena maps.

With them opening up the Forge editor to PC though, I'm sure there will be an onslaught of even better maps that 343i can pretty up down the line and maybe, just maybe we can finally get a Forge playlist.

I dunno.. maybe. If it's the same toolset I'm skeptical that it will lead to higher quality content than forgers on Xbox are capable of. Maybe you'll see an increase in quantity, but it's not like this is going to appeal directly to new users. Like most of Microsoft's PC initiatives.. this seems like it's content for existing Xbox users.

Quantity is good then I guess, a lot of forge maps actually play better than quite a few of 343's maps already. People are too distracted by the aesthetics of Forge to give a damn though, if the map looks plain then they complain.

Yeah. It is more that than anything. As far as Microsoft's commitment to PC as a platform is though, in the back of my head, I believe they'll never be 100% dedicated to it until we see a mainline Halo release day and date with a console one. That to me will be the starting point for how serious they really are, which means never.

Unless of course LFG customs take off on Forge: PC. That'd be hilarious.

That seems like the best thing about it to be honest.. but maybe I'm underselling it.

I'm just not seeing the big benefit beyond the F2P angle and the taste of Halo multiplayer on PC. Microsoft could pioneer user content on consoles if they really put some effort into it. They should consider what Fallout is doing and think about the possibilities. Heck.. consider what Epic and Valve are doing with monetizing user content. It could be awesome!

It's just for Warzone Firefight. They traded A.I for hordes, bullshit sponges and stupidly accurate enemies, all to make people burn their REQs faster.

And I love it.

The A.I in the campaign is still great, just not many interesting scenarios in the campaign itself, but Warzone Firefight is not the FireFight of old.

Now to burn through 63 Ghosts somehow.
