Can't get the prototype up the trail, but just using the boat and hummer make it a must buy again. I'm getting used to it, and I'm liking it alot. This and Saints Row are my two purchases for September. Can't wait till next week and beyond :).

Freedom of movement and play. The gameworld is essentially a sandbox that you can traverse and play with however you please.

Uhh, it felt like a chore when i was playing this game.

The poorest of vehicle controls, slow arse animations, slow movement, poor camera controls and the dumbest of dumb, the automatic aiming, i mean i couldnt even see there were people around and it would lock onto them and kill em.

I dont know, it feels like a this is a crappy low budget game with a good budget skin. Very misleading indeed.

Combat is not this game's strongpoint in any sense, its true. Exploration is definately a counterbalance. Some of the vehicles control differently I've discovered. Non-combatant cars are slow, and sluggish. Military and Police Jeeps on the otherhand are much more fluid in control.

Helicopters are great, aswell as my new favs the Bat-boat (speedboat thingy) and the Batmobile/Tumbler (prototype-MV). Vehicular combat is great, not involved or requiring tedious aiming (ala Full Auto), but fun and rewarding like a game should be. Watching stuff go boom at critical moments gives it a big budget hollywood feel. Motion blur is good, even if its only used to cover up muddy textures, it adds some realism and sense of speed. It's the little things that impress me with this game, reversely its the little things that annoy me aswell.

I can easily understand why some would be put off by this game, and I won't even try to argue differently. All I know is, the moment I took the Helicopter higher than the demo would allow, and then jumped out and free-fell (free-fall'ed??) to the Bat-boat and took off all cool, I was sold. Hopefully you guys will experience a moment like this before you delete the demo, if you haven't already :).

Well, played the demo, and I can not conlcude anything other than that it looks and plays like an Xbox game.
Animations, shadows, textures and whatnot can easily be mistaken for an Xbox game, not exactly a "next-gen" experience.

But, the game does have some stuff that's pretty fun to fool around with, like the stuff mentioned above, but the question is; for how long...

Ever since this game came up I never digged it and I still think it's a pretty bad 360 game actually, but I can imagine people enjoying this game, as I actually enjoy fooling around with the demo, but I don't think this game's worth the 60 euro's it's going to cost (Europe anyway), at all, but it may be worth a rental in desperate times...

Don’t forget that this game is coming for Xbox/PS2 also. So technically it IS an Xbox /PS2 game, just with some enhancements and hi-res graphics for Xbox360…

But as I said it’s fun.

Is it worth 60 euros? If the finished game has enough variety and longevity, it’ll definitely worth it. We’ll see.

Yeah, it certainly looks like an Xbox port.

But yeah, I'm enjoying the demo, that said, it's kinda of a dry period for gaming on the 360 for a while now anyway, so any demo can keep me busy for a bit longer, whereas otherwise, I might not even have bothered with it...

Anyway, 60 euro's for an Xbox port at this stage just feels like I'm stealing out of my own wallet, and is just not worth it imo, 30 Euro's I might consider it...

It's $50 here (not trying to put salt on an open wound) so maybe it'll be 10 euros cheaper? Dunno what you guys normally have to pay. I've still got my PS2, but I'd still rather have a 16:9 widescreen 720p version of a port and get achievements. It's not a bad port IMO. I've seen alot worse. And even as a port, to me, its a fun game that I don't mind paying $10 more for.

Atleast I'd recommend people to gamefly it, or rent it, whichever is easier. I think its a game thats atleast worth a try. I don't believe the demo did the game justice from what I've seen in the vids. Grappling hook should've been standard, as its the coolest gizmo Rico's got. Either way, I predict alot of mixed reviews by both journalists and users. But this and Saints Row are gonna be my two most played games till Gears of War and Rainbow Six.

No, it's not a bad port persé, but it's an Xbox port that just doesn't stand up against any other titles that will be released soon, I mean, like you said, it's an Xbox game, with slightly better graphics, which imo, isn't worth the extra money, and not even full price, how fun it may be.

And yeah, that hurts, Europe allready pays the same amount in Euro's you guys pay in dollars, and in some cases, Europe pay's full price, while the US pay's half price... :(

You can always by the PC version (if you have a decent PC that is), it’s the cheapest of all versions, (28,99 euros at play.com).

PC gaming is expensive, it always was. Not that “HD” console gaming comes much cheaper anyway…

I've played the demo several times now, I'm enjoying it that much.

At times I think the game looks great but I do acknowledge there are problems. To me, they're all little things but there are a lot of them. People and objects disappearing very quickly, somewhat glitchy shadows, very obvious pop-in. I'll admit there are more but they are the 3 that spoil it somewhat for me. The motion-blur I quite like actually and the vehicle controls work for me.

It's been in development for three years so always will have been a port. Technologically, the size of the world, all procedurally generated is pretty cool! The concept I think is fantastic, so for a first effort they've pulled off a lot of things quite well. It would be nice to see them have a proper bash at a next gen only sequel.

I particually like the lighting, the stunts and the vehicles. Free-falling down to the bat boat at sunset and caning it around the island just makes me want to go on holiday, very pretty!

I'll give it a go when it comes out. Saint's Row for me is all about the multi-player :)

I played the mission with the boat chase and pulled into the beach near the prototype garage, as I walked towards the garage about twenty people faded in all around me and ran into the sea swimming away from me! It was pretty damn surreal.

Great Graphics ruined by awful animations+controls, It really annoys me the way he runs and holds his guns. Someone said he reminded them of woody from toy story, i think thats spot on, just awful.
