Liking science and logic prevents you from enjoying mystical fiction? I don't believe in magic and can still enjoy fantasy. Not that it's a good movie, but it is a weird reason not to like it.

I'm disappointed with movie audiences this week. The Cabin in the Woods is getting a lot of unwarranted hate from horror fans who apparently expected it to be the very thing it's poking fun at. Good satire is almost always marked by the masses that miss the point though, so I'm at least happy that it ranked #3 this weekend and is doing exceptionally well with critics. It's clearly not for everyone.

I hate fantasy. I was so hyped for Lord of the Rings since it was getting 10's everywhere, I saw the movie and it bored me to tears. I have seen parts of all 3 but it was all boring shit. The only fantasy related thing I have enjoyed recently is the Witcher 2.

I can't even get into movies about "ghosts," so fucking stupid!! and it's all the same, bunch of over excited extroverts with cameras freaking out at the blowing wind.

Also saw Sherlock Holmes on the weekend, great acting and the chemistry between Holmes & Watson was really good, but the movie just dragged on and on. I missed the last 40 or 35 minutes, I said meh, "I will read the ending on wikipedia."

yea apparently everyone is going crazy over the hunger games which sounds like a plot of an Unreal Tournament game. Don't really keep with the latest movies but how sad.

That's just strange. It's fiction. Who cares if it's not based on reality?

Seriously, LOTR movies has its moments of good. But there are alot of dull and VERY dull scenes too (I hate EVERY scene with the trees and Smeagol, ALL of them).

Two Towers is very boring IMO.

Amazing Epic film but dragged a lot and made it boring, there are parts of ROTK that are boring too IMO.

Fellowship is the very best.

Man i fucking love, few weeks back i watched two tower and return of the king directors cut... not hard you may say.. yeah yea you do it while doing cardio :D the ntire 2 movies, i was FUCKED

But there awesome :) the ents are ace :D

And raptor ..you class the first as best? odd usually everyone who is impatient with them hates it the most.

Fellowship of the Ring is the best one, stating fact here sense others who says no have bad taste LOL.

But seriously, the first one has that charm to it that other 2 fails to bring in IMO so I like that more.
Though Two Towers have something that others dont, seeing Gandalf fall and go after the Balrog and grabbing the sword before he grab on to it, awesome stuff!

i was going to right some huge post on how the first one is meant to be charming and full of adventure, and the sequels are more darker because its now a tale of survival and war..

Shawn Elliot (1up/GFW Live podcast fame) didn't like LOTR either, he said it was the only movie he walked out on. Boring as a turtle

I actually quite like Roger Ebert. I think he's a good critic. I don't always agree with him but he presents his opinion/analysis in a way that makes me consider things from a different perspective. In that sense I value his opinion. He's not like one of these toolboxes that must keep a journal of spiteful remarks, eager to bring down what they see as prey. But that's the issue with criticism in general. It's easy to bring things down if that's all you're attempting to do.

Thing is I do keep in mind and read what he has to say about a film Im interested but sometimes he brings negatives for the sake of bring something negative to a review, case in point his review of Thor, he questioned some things that are considered common knowledge to the fans of the comic book and yet he listed as negatives if Im remember correctly.

But I agree he is good at what he does te majority of the time.

Oh, Dolphin Tale is a nice family flick, pretty clean and old school. Kids loved it. Probably too magical for some, you know, dolphins with prosthetic and all.

Just gonna ignore that, Doom...

Anyway, I seen Battleship. Pretty cool action and hilariously stupid(but didn't seem like it was trying to be serious) parts like the opening scenes before Hopper joins the navy, the WWII vets fixing up an old battleship in a montage set to AC/DC's Thunderstruck (seriously) and Rihanna not actually being the horrible actor that I thought she would be, since she basically copies Vasquez' character from Aliens pretty well.

Not enough Liam Neeson, however.
