After seeing the Avengers, it seems like they had a good mix between the two styles.
I always thought it weird when people say he looks like a cartoon character in the first. Why? 'Cuz he's bright green (like the comics)? Everything else looks phenominal, IMO and it looks more like he has muscle under his skin as opposed to the carved from clay look of the second film. The '08 version almost feels trendy in the body style-like a swimmer or a teenager. The over-cut look looks more fake to me too. Oh well, to each his own...
Oooh, Profound, isn't it?

The Avengers Vs Xmen series is turning out to be very good too.

Would i watch it again? if I was bored and had nothing special to do at the time when its on TV, yes I might.
Its way overrated IMO, and yes, i hate those Navi designs.
CGI was great.

I can certainly agree that the plot really isn't anything special, it's just Cameron doing what he does best; icredibly two dimensional characters in a plot that's incredibly easy to get in to so that by the end you are really rooting for the good guys and really hate the bad guys...which kinda falls apart a wee bit if you start thinking about it too much.
Still, i don't se how you could go in to that movie without bias and not come out entertained. It's not a storytelling masterpiece but surely there are a lot of worse movies to watch.
I saw it 3 times in the theater just to get the mazing 3D :P

Inscrit depuis 6725 JoursI mean there are things you can do to Crysis in the config file....turn the wind up to 3 and have all the vegetation sway in the wind realistically, play it with the mster's config which looks way better the vanilla game etc etc. I could go on and on.....
But anyway I thought the lighting on characters looked really substandard, and so was the animation...while watching I said, "damn even Jurassic park looks better than this." I didn't watch the full movie but that part (where the girl is training the human) looked bad

In regards to this conversation though, I haven't seen Avatar since I saw it in theaters so I can't really speak on it.
When movies try to cg humans though it generally always looks awful

Inscrit depuis 7387 JoursAnd in the interest of full disclosure, I'm really not a fan of Avatar at all. It was boring and awkward and the action was uninspired. When everything's a special effect, no effects are special. It's just a personal opinion heavily influenced by look, but if it had been practical, I would have been far more engrossed by it. That's just how I feel in general. Hellboy 2 wouldn't have been as amazing to me if all the creatures were cg.

Inscrit depuis 6806 Jours@ the whole CGI/practical effects debate. I think it's entirely dependable on the quality of the cgi. If it's as believable as avatar where you no longer question whether it is CGi or real, then it's fine, but if it's as obvious and low quality as say, the 3 prequel star wars films, then i'd rather they go back to models, sets and prosthetics/animatronics since the movie would look better for it.
