TDKR is a better written movie? No friggin' way. The Avengers has fucking fantastic dialog.

Seriously. It's no contest. As a by-the-numbers Superhero film, TDKR is good stuff. But next to something that's actually fresh and original it seems awfully stale.

I'm actually a little shocked that we're still talking about it :D

Seriously? Garbage? Ridiculous.

"There's only one god, mam, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like that."

There are a lot of really good lines in that movie when I really stop and think about it. Moment I heard that line it just felt right. I thought while laughing, "That's exactly the kind of thing Captain America would say."

There were good lines all over the place. It was pretty well done. I do, however, think that TDKR was really well written, too, though. I liked that movie surprisingly more than I thought I would, which is strange that I had so much doubt coming out of Dark Knight. The whole symbolism thing they had going on regarding Bane, and what it would take for Batman to beat someone like that is something that really played well with me. But the asspull that I saw coming a mile away, but wasn't quite sure what form it would take, sorta put a blemish on how Bane had seemingly been built up.

He went from epic levels of potential to just blah in record time.

Just saw the new Total Recall. How the f**k does that get 32% on rotten tomatoes? Are reviewers really that snobby? Sure it's not like the original movie, but for a summer blockbuster action movie it was fine. I wasn't bored, it didn't feel like it was excessively stupid or poorly cast or anything. Sure, it wasn't movie of the year but i had a good time watching it.

RT is a tough system when you consider that they boil every review down to a single answer. Obviously many of the actual reviews aren't nearly as cut and dry. This probably harms more average movies more than it does boost bad ones or hurt good ones. A lot score on RT isn't as bad as low score on Metacritic (for games, anyway, not sure how they handle movies.. they may do the same thing).

The rottentomatoe reviewers are a breed that I've figured out pretty well. They seem to cheer something really fucked up happening, and reward it in their reviews. If a movie gets a pretty high review, somebody you didn't want to see killed probably got killed in it. If a movie has a 70 or 80ish score, rest assured that if something more bizarre and unthinkable happened to one of the more likeable characters, or even the main character, the score would be even higher.

I've learned a long time ago to not let rottentomatoe too harshly dictate which movie I find good or satisfying. If the trailer and all other things I've seen of the movie catches my interest, I want to see it and judge for myself.

Have Chow Yung Fat not die in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and see the difference in that movie's score.

Total recall....hmmmm. Not as bad as reviews would lead you to believe, but not close to being great either. There where points i grew bored, and some action chase sequences went on longer then they needed to. What surprised me was how it generally kept to the same beats and grooves of the arnie version, it just had no mutants and wasn't on mars, but was very much still the total recall i knew and loved...it just wasn't as good. The acting was decent enough, but the 2 main females where a bit 1 dimentional. The star of the show was world itself. It was very well realised. Very blade runner, very prey 2, a bit deus ex HR. the city was just awesome imo, the film itself...not really. Worth seeing, but probably not worth seeing in cinema, thankfully i got in free.

Syndicate is a bit too clinical and clean. That city on top of a city in deus ex though, definately very similar.

I personally havent seen Total Recall yet (new one) but from the trailers and from what I played syndicate (new one) thats very close, same vibe of sci fi style.

Bourne Legacy.

Really, really different from the first three. In a bad way. Not just because Damon is gone, but this doesn't feel like a Bourne film at all. Really slow paced, Aaron Cross (I think that was his name) was a shit character.

The end is open ended, there might be a sequel. Hopefully Bourne and Cross team up. Would be awesome.
