I for one will watch it in 3D with HFR since thats something new so I am curious. Many say it takes like 10-15 minutes to get used to it, i am okay with that, kind of like how 3D first came out and it takes time for the eyes to adjust.
Though problem is if I dislike HFR version I have to stay for the entire 3 hour movie lol.
Besides, once it comes out on Blu Ray it will be normal movie speed. And IF i liked the movie alot i will watch it again in theaters a few days after, but then I know if it will be with HFR or regular 2D.
as for WHY he made it into 3 movies, read EMPIRE recent write up of it with peter jackson.

that was from same magazine i do not know if it is there though, but it is something for you too read.
But i do not think Peter Jackson turned it into 3 movies for the sake of money, he wanted lord of the rings to be 2 movies, new line talked him into 3.. technically he made 8 with that run time..

I do think it makes the CG look nicer. And it's interesting to see more detail in high action scenes.
Winter is coming. Brrrr.
Give us something here, pacing? HFR or normal?....anything.

I would say that, if you loved the LOTR film, you will undoubtedly love this. It's more of the same and that's what I wanted. If you didn't, then you may view it as a little stale in terms of the formula - although my mate who's a film critic/buff wasn't a massive fan of LOTR, but gave The Hobbit five stars in his review and absolutely loved it.
It's probably most comparable to Fellowship of the Ring in terms of style; emphasis on the characters, bit more personable, and a bit more foreboding in terms of the bigger conflict to come. But the characters, performances, locations, effects, music, fighting, emotion - just all top, top notch.
Pacing's pretty much spot on. A little slow to get going I guess, but I got the sense that the slower beginning is intended to re-introduce you to Middle-earth and the various locations.
I'm so happy it got made, and even happier that there are two more films to come. There's just nothing like it for me, hadn't been that excited to see a film at the cinema since, funnily enough, Return of the King came out.
Winter is coming. Brrrr.
Also, I LOVE Middle Earth LOTR universe and since you like it as much as well I am probably gonna love it as well, all the scenes I seen from it on youtube I didt have any complaints so, so far so good.
I dont mind a bit of slow beginnings, especially if they want to introduce characters. I for one havent read the books, i know practically nothing about Hobbit other than whats been said and showned from the extended editions of LOTR.
I know this though, Thorin looks badass from design so i hope he is great on screen as he is on design. My next favorite is Fili, same thing lol.
I have heard the OST, there are a few i like i alot, Misty Mountains, "main theme" among, but IMO LOTR OSTs was way better, especially Bridge of Kazak-Dum.
I will definitely go and watch it this upcoming week.

CGI was fantastic IMO, some rare palces i could tale it was poorly made, but overal it was great.
Azog AKA demon Kratos, damn he looked badass, and thats not something I usually say to an demon/monster but he looked awesome lol. I also liked that the orcs used blackspeech than plain english, very cool.
Musicwise, I heard them all before movie, even though I love the main theme ALOT, it was overused.
Another thing that caught me off guard, as a mlee fan of weapons, I was surprised how well these dwarves like Thorin, Fili, Kili and even old one Balin was so flashy with their swing, jumping and slashing, great stuff.
CGI was great but used TOO much. They should have used humans for the orcs and goblins here and there like LOTR...not saying they didnt do so in Hobbit but not enough.
And great sweeping vistas as well.
IMO, Fellowship of the Ring is still the best thing Jackson has created, And then probably LOTR3 and then Hobbit and then TTT.
But Hobbit on its own merits, it was great with some boring and unesseccary scenes here and there.
Will I watch it again? definitely, maybe in 1-2 weeks from now but this time in regular 2D.
The 3D+HFR was nothing special to me tbh. The 3D was well...3D. And the HFR, pretty much all HDTV has that quick motion thing option, and I watched one of the LOTR movies like that so I was used to seeing quick scenes so it didnt wow me, nor dissapoint. It was what I expected.
Also Orcrist and Glamdring should have glowed man, WTF at Jackson for removing that.
Stupid beyond belief.

I hope Hobbit 2 and 3 is much better, great movie still though.
