They took the safe, lazier route with this one, didn't like it.

More colourful and less apocalyptic than LOTR, but still really great.
Also, you can tell the stone giants and the Goblin King were designed by Guillermo del Toro.
All in all, really liked it. The whole necromancer sub-plot is really cool too, good to see it explored rather than in the books where Gandalf just leaves them to it without much explanation why. Also, they ended it in a great way, I didn't feel like they stretched it out unnecissarily. One thing I kinda dislike is that, although they have actual physical sets, all the goblins are CGI rather than costumed Kiwis like the last trilogy. Azog looks like the big Engineer guy from Prometheus.
I for one will probably go next week to see it in 3D HFR version and hope it doesnt annoy me, but people say its fantastic, some say its bad lol.
Seeing the Hobbit tonight
Another thing to mention is that there are many, MANY references to LOTR. Some are almost a bit cringy.
No wonder he lost all that damn weight, he was getting 3 movies out!
DAMN!
SUPER BURN
Kinda funny, though. Good job.
The Hobbit is a 320 page book they're blowing up into a 10hr cash vacuum.
I know LOTR is too big of a brand for them to just let settle into the annals of history, but it'd be nice if they didn't milk it for every last drop.
I will marathon it when it's on blu-ray. Extended Drector's Cut Collector's Cartographer Re-release Anniversary Edition.
And you heard it people. 320 pages is a "thin book." Phaethon only reads shit that starts at 1000 pages.
I mean seriously people. The last Harry Potter book was 784 pages and it was cut into TWO films. You don't see how you don't need THREE movies for 320 pages, where half of them are to describe rocks and whose lineage was the most royal of the olden dwarfdom?
I agree with Phaethon360, this should have never been a Trilogy, I could have passed 2 movies, ideally should have been only one 3 hour with a 3 and a half hour EE, but no Jackson has to put as many boring shit in the films as he can.
Is The Two Towers all over again, boring way too long scenes that make no sense whatsoever.
Real Madrid C.F. fan.
If it isn't all from the Hobbit, it's in the appendices for ROTK or in Unfinished Tales. He did this because during the hobbit, Gandalf fucks off randomly and says, "gonna fight the embodiment of evil itself brb" and leaves them to their adventure, only to turn up at the end.

But i think if you like LOTR universe as a whole, then watch Hobbit, if not, then dont.
But i agree, I hope it doesnt turn out like Two Towers lol
