I just watched Fight Club (for the 1,000th time) and I have to say, it's still one of the best movies I've ever seen!

Better than the first? Didn't care much for that one except for Fassbender who is brilliant in everything he touch.

Too long, too heavy handed, and the Asian make up was not only awful but pretty insulting.

Edge of tomorrow, groundhog day with the beautiful Emily Blunt and aliens. What could go wrong?

I was completely surprised by it. Ended up loving it when I thought it'd be Battle LA 2. Great character progression as we see the same relationships reset.

I saw Interstellar 2 days ago in a shitty Chinese theatre in Suzhou (could sometimes hear street noises during the movie).
Since they had chinese subtitles; had to listen very carefully to catch the dialog but I reckon I manage to grasp most of it.

I loved the movie itself. The whole 'time is relative' stuff was done very well and had a couple of moments where I felt like an explorer myself.
Another great flick by Nolan.

Would definitely recommend it to others...

I personally loved the fanciful explanations. But how did you feel about the theme of Gravity and Love both being immune to time and natural law?

Not only that, but LOVE being a quantitative anomaly (that is love as it's OWN MATTER) that actually USES and MANIPULATES TIME and has the ability to archive itself (because Cooper didn't even recognize himself at first) into a into a Black Hole shaping mechanism

btw, the best robot A.I.s I've seen in any film. They were clever and hilarious and after awhile it was very hard not to credit them as members of the cast.

And weren't you thinking at one point I'll bet that they wished they chosen the other planet? Let Matt Damon sleep! LMAO!!!

I can accept the theory on gravity, and I'm sure if I read the writing by Kip Thorne who heavily influenced this it'd make some compelling arguements. However I know Brandt discussed that theory of love, but Cooper shot it down and I didn't really see it brought up any other time... so to me it seems like a non issue?

The only thing with Mann/Damon was the dude on the other planet was dead you find out in the end anyhow, then they would have just gone home and blahdeblah deaddead

One major thing I think I find wrong with this film in hindsight is the end is like Spielberg directed it. Everything turns up sunshine regardless of the odds

Well like I said, I don't have a problem with the theorizing. I found them to be not only fascinating but strangely persuasive.

Remember we're talking about 5th Dimensional matter that is being archived (or at least represented as Brandt states) as a "gentle black hole" construct. Cooper interacts with Brandt at the first entry through the worm hole. I even get that Cooper's LOVE(if you want to use that word) is what actually transcends before his 3 Dimensional self is capable of understanding that his quantitative moments with Murphy aren't bound by time or physics.

What isn't explained is when Cooper became a 5th dimensional being or developed 5th dimensional consciousness. He is no longer bound by physical law. He is literally apart of the Space-Time-Fabric by the time he begins communicating with Murphy through the Tesseract. This of course brings to head the discussion that's been raging around the film since it's release How did Cooper survive the Black Hole?

The only answer is that the Black Hole as well as the Worm Hole are both constructs by the 5 Dimensional beings who are trying to help humanity. Brandt knocked her own theory out of the park but lacked the conviction to sell it properly to Cooper. The problem is that why place the Tesseract in something that 3 Dimensional beings would do everything in their power to avoid or treat with great fear and caution?

Dr Mann is perfectly represented as a man acting purely on primal urges of survival, shame and misguided purpose. He wants to save humanity but he's ready to kill everyone to do it. We all understand the reason why he lied, he wanted to be rescued. But his methods for atoning for his deception is ridiculous. Cooper and his crew went through extraordinary efforts to reach and awaken him. Were you Dr. Mann would you fess up or decide to kill and strand the people who came to save you?

As I watched Dr Mann cracking Cooper's helmet, I just couldn't grasp the moment of his desperation. They were all dedicated to the mission.

Yes they were all dedicated to the mission but it's pretty blatant that Mann has lost his mind from being in such a dire situation for so long. He's just like most villains who are twisted by their fated situations. I have never heard anyone complain about that part of the story before. His character was one of the best parts of the movie

As for his survival- I don't understand the disapproval of that either. He survives based on theory because there isn't any way to know what goes on inside, because a black hole can't be directly observed, and there isn't much data on them.
Also you said it yourself- he's not bound by physical law.
Most of the movie survives on theory, so they could do almost whatever they wanted.
However I can understand people having a problem with his survival because everything that follows feels like catering to the audience.
His son Tom goes unexplained, he leaves his daughter again which makes no sense (don't watch me die- oh please! he just went through hell to get back to you)

Also it's made in such a way- to avoid until the right person comes along to take the chance to use the black hole and not abuse its abilities.
It was careful enough to choose the person who could help orchestrate the solution.

Also those 5th-dimensional beings are just humans from the future as they pointed out

Fine but Dr Mann is still a fuckin astrophysicist. You think he would have known that improperly docking the Ranger would have ended disastrously.

Besides by that point he's making it clear that doesn't actually care about anything else. He just wants to leave.

Checked out Nolan's comic on Dr Mann if you haven't already. http://www.wired.com/2014/11/absolute-zero/
