I think you also have to credit the fact that Spielberg made that movie too, even though he gets pretty dark with that movie still. Had someone else made it, it would have been a lot more brutal and perhaps heavier on the German focus.
I'd wager the Germans don't enjoy the amount of movies about their role in WWII either though.

While there has been a lot of WWII movies, I don't think there has been an accurate portrayal of slavery in film already. Perhaps that's why they're saying it's needed, because it hasn't been done yet.
You may know the story, just like we know the story of the Holocaust, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be seen through film.
It's not meant to be a guilt trip, it's meant to retell a history that hasn't been told yet.

I watched Hobbit 2 2 days ago, i liked it quite alot, way better than the first one which i felt it was way too kiddy humor and corny scenes.
The only parts i disliked in Hobbit 2 was the silly Kili/Tauriel love story that they forced in...other than that, great.

Bilbo and Smaug scene was WAY better than Bilbo and the abnoxiously boring Smeagol scene in the first part.

I hope Peter Jackson follows the Hobbit 2 route for Hobbit 3 or better then i will be happy.

Legolas was awesome in Hobbit 2, he did 10x more badass action scenes then he did in all 3 LOTR movies put together, good stuff. I liked his light armor he had on too, way better than his plain look in LOTR.

The ending?
I think Sam helped him grow out of his depressed fase and helped him remember what living/having fun meant.
He's definitely hooking up with that neighbor chick though

I was more curious where you thought she went at the end than anything else. I like hypothesizing about the place they allude to finding

The Raid 2, best action movie of the year. If you're going to see one action flick this year, see this.

I'd go as far as to say it's the best action movie I've ever seen.

World War Z. It definitely had simularities to The Last of Us, but TLOU was much, much better.

Snowpiercer. Apparently winter came. Interesting take on class structure. Got sorta hamfisted towards the end, but ultimately it works. Some questionable character decisions though, and in the final plot twist kind of damaged the movie for me. Sunshine meets Hunger Games meets The Matrix? Still enjoyable.

The Raid 2 never cease to amaze.

From the behind the scenes on yt, one cameraman dressed as a car seat. ^^
They also used moving stall walls in the bathroom fight so the cameraman could move around.

Saw How to train your dragon 2 last week, was good but the first one was better. The antagonist dragon in that one was way cooler than what they had in this one.

Haven't seen Nymphomaniac yet, not sure if i want too... But i consider The Kingdom a masterpiece so maybe i should give it a shot even though it's probably completely different tonewise etc.

Shows im watching atm are Death Note and have started to rewatch The Sopranos and Rome.

Death Note is good but the end is a let down :/

Yet to see The Kingdom.
Just don't watch Antichrist- movie is garbage

Also agreed about How to Train. I didn't like Hiccup's role at the end either

Guardians of the Galaxy

One of the most entertaining movies I've seen this summer. Gave me a sort of Firefly feel in a way that an odd bunch travels around in space, which is always a good thing. Haven't seen Chris Pratt since The O.C. but feels like he was made to play Star Lord.

I watch Gravity. I want to say I enjoy a lot the movie. I'm not a fan of Bullock and Clooney, but the movie is just breathtaking to watch. Cuaron did a good job at taking the beautiful vistas on earth from the vast silence in space.

Watched Guardians of the Galaxy last sunday...

What a movie!
This is the ultimate summer blockbuster.
OST was great, the 3D effects (Imax) were on par with (or even better than) Avatar, loved it!
Definitely going for a 2nd viewing this week.
