Yeah I agree, not sure if they were really necessary. I'm glad they translated the vampires as well as they did from the comics though, I thought for sure there was no way they'd get a decent style the same as the books

Also yes, The Thing is probably my favorite horror movie of all time. Even the version from the 50's(?) rules, maybe even moreso since in black/white it adds something extra.
I remember watching it for the first time on Scifi at about 2-3 am. I almost shit my pants walking in the dark to my room to go to bed

Those subtitle parts tore it apart though.
I loved that scene shot from an aerial perspective when the vampires first started running rampant. You just see all these absolutely awesome blood spatters on the snow. I really enjoyed that film right up until the ending which I thought was insanely stupid.

Strange memories on this nervous night in Las Vegas. Has it been five years? Six? It seems like a lifetime.

I actually liked the ending but, yeah, all of the gore effects are great and some are the best I have ever seen.

I'm sure if I had previously read any of the books I would have looked at the movie completely different (I don't read much anymore so that's not a problem these days) but regardless it was a good movie.

Oh yeah, a shout out to The Thing gore effects too; they are still great.
Carpenter was really pushing the boundaries those days.

terminaorr 2 ( never get tired of watching to this day ), puts many movies to shame.

such a master piece

can't blame T3 for not living up to the expectation, nothing can surpass the 2nd one

Agreed - the second one was very special indeed. Saying that, the third one was no slouch in my opinion.

T3 was horrible. It wasn't even just bad for a Terminator movie, it was simply a bad movie.

As far as 30 Days of Night goes, I enjoyed the set up of the whole thing, but once the vampires appeared, the quality dropped off immensely. It went from this creepy, well thought-out horror movie to trying to be like all the bullshit modern vampire movies that are out today.

Basically any of them from the last 10 years.

And I'm not saying that it was so similar to those other movies that you'd confuse them, but to me, it felt like the latter 2/3rds to a half of the movie felt more like some stupid, vampires-are-hip popcorn movie than the first half of the movie which was great.

I wish Ben Foster was in more movies though.

Ah okay
Hellboy 2 wasn't very good. Saw it last night around 8... after all the reviews on rottentomatoes I was expecting this one to blow me away in some way, but everything was just 'okay'. Nothing was spectacular, nothing was bad, everything was just ho-hum. So I guess it was disappointing in the end

I'm still excited to see Hellboy 2 despite not really liking the first one. I don't doubt that a lot of its high praise was a result of it being Guillermo del Toro's next movie after Pan's Labyrinth and retaining a lot of the fantastical imagery.

There really isn't that much resembling his style as I thought there would be to be honest. There's the one monster you see in commercials but that's pretty much it

I haven't seen the movie yet, but almost everything they showed in the previews looked like the same kind of style.

I can watch that again and again and... Yeah never gets boring. The ending is legendary... the music, camera angles, action all of it.

Saw Hancock yesterday. It was average at best, it couldn't decide what it was in the end. It wasn't a comedy, I laughted 2 times - It was't an actionmovie, too little going on - and frakly it wasn't even a drama it could be, because the dramaturgic moments were very weak, almost non existant. I'm quite disappointed.

So when is the new Batman movie coming out? After the last one I expect a brilliant movie.

It's 25th July in the UK i believe, but I won't be able to see it because i'll be on holiday. :(

I'll definitely be seeing it in the cinema though when I get back. Reviews have been really good so far.
