The two highlights for me in the new Rambo were:

1. The soldier throws a civilian child into a burning building. He then turns his flamethrower into an already burning building to torch said child (as if the building wouldn't murder him already).

2. Rambo shoots a guy running in the neck with an arrow. This causes the soldier to fall sideways at an alarming rate right onto a land mine where he explodes.

They pretty much ran the gamut of gory scenes, for sure, and the blood splatter reminds me of Gears of War when people get hit with bullets... HUGE goopy sprays.

There was one completely unrealistic part that made me laugh though, when those guys got thrown back 20 feet after getting sniped.
I was just like "no way that's gonna happen!" but it was still fun to watch :D
I guess it would have been pointless to have them just fall over, where everything else they are doing is so in your face.

It may not have been quite as good as First Blood, but it's the last Rambo movie we're ever going to see (I'll bet) and a great way to cap off the series; with a big bloody boom.

I absolutely loved all of the sniping bits, especially the first guy that gets his head sniped in half. That was epic.

I said it before, it was easily the goriest movie I've ever seen. Some other movies might be more over the top with their gore, but Rambo's gore felt a bit more grounded in reality, so the gore had more of an impact.

I had to do a bit of meditation before I could put the DVD in the mailbox.
Really didn't want to let it go.

Looks like I'll be buying the series now...

movie with don cheadle won't disappoint

hollywood recognizing the breadth of muslim philosophy for once. a deeply engrossing political thriller that will definitely make the audience think about the movie, and of course, the current state of affairs in our world.

body of lies

what can you say when you have leonardo dicaprio and russel crowel, with riddley scot directing it

I was also a fan of how the main bad guy died at the end.

They made him SO SO evil. They're like, how can we make a guy carrying out genocide and large acts of rape even more evil?! Let's make him a pedophile, but also a pedophile who prefers boys!

To be fair, that wouldn't make him any more evil to a lot of people than if he preferred little girls.

I'd like to see Body of Lies for exactly that reason. Russel Crow + Leonardo Dicaprio + Riddley Scott = how could that possibly go wrong? I'm surprised that I haven't seen much in the way of promotion for that film. It seemed like such a sure bet.

Watched Friday the 13th yesterday and damn that as the suckiest thing i've seen in a LONG time. I honestly wonder if the people that made the movie even made the effort too watch the previous ten movies or if they instead just to a few nights off. What a piece of garbage.

Pretty much what everyone is expecting I imagine.

I recently watched The Day the Earth Stood Still and Hell Ride. Didn't even remotely like either with Hell Ride being especially disappointing.

Watched The Godfather for the first time. It was good and all, but I don't think I'd ever really want to watch it again.

Also watched Eagle Eye. It was actually better than I was expecting(I was expecting less action and more boredom) despite it getting pretty ridiculous and convoluted. Shia LaBoeuf was good as usual.

Oh, watched Bolt as well. It had a few funny moments here and there with the hamster getting most of the laughs. It definitely seemed more geared towards kids though and definitely doesn't stack up to some of the better cg movies.

Ronsauce: the thing is that i expected it to suck ass through a straw, and it still surprised me with it's suckage. The movie was outright painful to watch, and not just because they deviated from the original DB stuff (im not a fan of the manga or anything) but because it was a painfully bad movie in itself.

"OK" is giving that movie farrrr too much credit. The girl was cute and the guy was actually a good actor despite his character being quite annoying. Everything else about the movie was pretty awful.

With respect to Star Trek, I've never really been a fan of it, but I'm definitely looking forward to the movie.

No apparent reason? Honestly?

Let's see. For starters, it's based on a series of fairly poorly written novels aimed at tweens and fat/ugly/lonely women featuring a whole lot of emo-y angst. It's directed by a woman, and said women has very little directing experience. And that's what someone would know without seeing it and is enough to write it off.

Actually watching the movie exposes the viewer to a bunch of clichéd, overly juvenile dialogue and horrible special effects.

For someone to think it was even ok...he would have to be devoid of even the slightest discriminating taste.
