PG-13? The movie is a hard 18 here in the UK. The action was totally brutal when I saw it, which is why I enjoyed it so much. Liam Neeson was a total bad ass.
They may have toned it down for those fragile minds in the US

I'm actually in Canada, and our American R-rating is actually 14-A.

Maybe it was edited though....like the version in the UK that's rated 15...ya know, for those fragile minds.

Yeah, I wasn't doubting you or anything. As you said the theater release in the UK was an edited 15. I saw it on DVD though.

Yeah, I figured as much. It just saw a theater release over here in the last week or two.

In the DVD version, does Neeson stab a dude in the knees while interrogating him? Based on the previews, it looked like he did, but then nothing like that remotely happened.

Yeah he does some pretty hardcore moves in the version I saw (New Zealand theatre)

Oh, is that the part where he electrocutes him? Then yes.

It more likely has more to do with the fact that violence is the hot shit in the USA, and PG-13's restrictions on brutal, graphic violence have been significantly curbed in the last decade.

Well I was always a bit surprised how Violence would be PG-13 but putting one nipple or naked body part in there and its Restricted or NC-17..

Oh god dude, speaking of which, I spent my weekend watching the LOTR trilogy back to back, and I almost died.

What great movies though; I haven't seen them since their theater releases else I never would have made it through (and I'll probably never do that again).

Ouch!!

What's up with The Hobbit? is that now cancelled or something?

I salute you, PlumbDrumb. The LOTR trilogy are officially my favourite films of all time.

The Hobbit is due for release in 2011, with its sequel due out in 2012.

I just finished watching Pride and Glory. It was really slow and quite long. I'd give it a 6/10 at best.

Watched The Watchmen today. I must say i was surprised. I hadn't expected much but it turned out to be a great movie. I never read the comic so i basically expected one hour and thirty minutes of stupid action/adventure crap in tyhe usual super hero style, maybe a bit darker, but it turns out that there was at least some thought behind the movie. It made me a little interested in the comic.

Okay that was the goriest movie I've seen, and very Rambo-ish.

somehow they kept that terrible writing of the 80's intact completely while still delivering one of the best action films ever.

Has Sly ever looked so buff?

FireWire: i've watched the first episode of the animated movie-version of the comic and the movie, so far, seems to be pretty faithful to the comic. Though the presentation and awesome production values of the movie sort of push it past the comic for me. Obviously i'm expecting the comic to cover more stuff than the movie but still, i doubt i'll think the Movie sucks even after i finish the comic :)

Plumb: i usually watch movies without subtitles but damn, i couldn't understand a single word when Stallone opened his mouth. Does he have aphasia or something? :P All in all the movie was fun to watch because of the insane blood and gore, other than that though it was pretty bad.

I still haven't watched the new Rambo flick, but it can't compare to First Blood, which is easily one of the best American action movies ever made. But then again, ever since the first attempt to turn Rambo into a franchise, it's gone down hill big time. Rambo was supposed to die in the first film anyway--which probably would have been a much more fitting ending.

Yeah, it definitely does NOT even come close to First Blood. As far as I'm concerned, First Blood was a standalone flick, and the rest of the Rambo movies just happen to feature the same protagonist. That said, the new Rambo movie is easily the best of the three non-First Blood Rambo movies. All I really wanted from it was over-the-top action and gore, and holy hell, did it ever deliver.
