Just saw Star Trek. I've never been a trekkie but I really enjoyed the movie.

I'm sad that syler didn't slice anyone's head open :p

I'd like to know what a Trekker thinks about it, as I have a friend who is torn two ways about going to watch it, because she's afraid it might ruin the franchise for her.

It alters the history of the show. That's really the only thing that will bother a Trekkie fan. It sounds major, but they do such a good job with the film you can look past it for the most part.

Just got round to watching Star Trek, I wouldn't call myself a trekkie although I've watched most of the TV series and some of the flms, and have to say it was a pretty kick ass movie.

The only thing I didn't like about it was the whole temporal reality thing, star trek does this way too much and yet again where were the Andorians... :(

Can't wait for the next one.

Just watched it last night, and I though it was fantastic. It certainly was a visually stunning movie with a great score and some pretty kick-ass characters. My only beef was that Eric Bana's dialogue and acting seemed a bit weak.

Woah this movie was completly out of the radar for me. Maybe because never got into Star Trek from the few episodes i saw.

But the impressions of the movie have been very good.

Just been seeing the trailers and looks awesome. Will certainly watch the movie soon!

I'm hooked to this music that was used on the trailers. :)

Has anyone seen terminator salvation yet? The trailers look pretty damn cool but not sure if the movie is good. (at least i'm 100% sure it is better than T3)

I've seen some of the reviews but I never like movie critics they are usually all over the place with their reviews. I would trust the reviews on this site over those. So let me know if it's any good.

I kind of was sceptical about The Mist but I freaking loved it! I hadn't read the book but now I'm definitely going to.

(Btw plumb have you read any of his novels?)

I've read three of them. Misery, Needful Things, and Christine.
I have several more of them but haven't even cracked the covers.
Probably should, they have like 20 years of dust on them, heh.

edit
I guess I should read The Mist before I call it a good adaption but it was a great movie so all is fine.
Most of his books could easily fill a 4-5 hour movie so you have to give the adaptions a bit of a break (Needful Things was a really big book), unless you expect everything to do a LOTR on us.

His Dark Tower series could do a LOTR though. I have a couple of those and haven't read them, but I'd be interested to see them go to film.
Supposedly they are crazy awesome.

Remember that one movie he wrote just for the screen? The one with the monsters?
That sucked ass, so if anyone of these hardcore critics (the ones who pick out all the little differences between the books and the movies) like to call the movie adaptions a waste of time, the "wastes of time" are still better than that trashy experiment.

I guess it all depends on the director and screen writer /shrugs.

Well his Dark tower series might be THE best book series that I've read. I would recommend starting on the series ASAP

And apparently JJ Abrams is working on a script for a movie version... (too bad Eastwood is too old to play Roland.....

Nice!
Yeah, if I ever get in a book reading mood again, I'll hit those up first; preferably before a movie comes out

Yeah, I just noticed that the dark tower is "in development" on imdb. I also noticed that Stephen King wrote the shawshank redemption. I had no idea!

I just recieved No country for old men, 3:10 to Yuma and Serenity on blu ray. Can't wait to check them out in 1080p. Supposedly No country is one of the best blu rays for picture quality.

Watched the Knowing yesterday. It was alright, th end was sort of cheesy but all in all it was an alright movie. The movie really did make me feel how terrible accidents are though, some scenes in this movie were pretty strong :)
