I watched The Fountain today and wept like a baby. Hugh Jackman is a man so manly I'm a woman in his presence.

And also the movie is good.
Lmao i've watched that movie 3 times, twice with my girlfriend, and im still not able to figure out wtf is going on half the time.

Yeah it's an odd movie, and I think it's important that everyone is allowed to interpret it differently. For me though the answer is rather simple:

It's about a two people, one who accepts death and one who doesn't. The ending to the film, both the weird stuff with the tree and him ascending, aswell as the physical ending, is about him finally accepting death. Viewed like that the entire film is essentially a journey towards that acceptance, and the things that happen in the book (which should at no point be confused - literally at least - with what transpires in real life) are a way for him to get there. The ending to the book is unwritten until he writes it, and the way he finishes the story, the man dies, then becomes one with the tree of life, and ascends to Xilbalba.

That's how I see it anyway. :)

resident evil extinction, zodiac and [bourne altuminum (sp) great movie]

while resident evil was good i felt it didn't feel like the previous ones. they's no sense of being trapped, hopelessness considering the whole world has turned into zombies.

Spiderman is *unintentionally* funny? Either you haven't seen the other two, don't know Sam Raimi, or can't pick up when a movie is tongue in cheek. Those movies know exactly when they tread the line between cheesy charm and outright stupidity.
Well, if the "gothic/emo" Peter Parker part is indeed intentional (I don't know Raimi, you are right), then it is just worse because that added nothing to the movie in my opinion. I'm glad you liked it though, I suppose it's a love-hate situation, like Transformers. I'm not a special effects lover, especially when the dialogue is boring.

yeah, i would also like to know since when dance sequences became popular in superhero movies. There were alot of instance in spidey 3 like that one ^ which i felt undermined the dark and serious side of the movie. Not a horrible movie, but certainly the weaker of the 3 IMO. Great fights though.

Spiderman 3 isn't that great, but I didn't think it was terrible either. Better than Transformers, at least. That movie is entertaining fluff, and it's real redeeming quality is the opportunity to look at Megan Fox for an extended period of time. Can't go wrong there.

Each installment of Spiderman comes with its own set of issues, but Spiderman 3 was just trying to jam entirely too much character in a movie with very little character development. Venom could have taken up it's own movie.

Also, in regards to Spiderman 3: Ron Howard's daughter is a puzzling creature. Her mother must not look quite as goofy.

I thought Spiderman 3 was a major disappointment, compared to the first 2. They should have just stuck with the Sandman plot and not worked the venom stuff in their. Too much story for 2 hours. Plus I've never cared much for Venom.

I saw for the 2nd time this weekend Lucky Number Slevin...
Morgan Freeman, Josh Hartnet, Lucy Liu, Ben Kingley... & Bruce Willis. Great involved plot with lots of violence. Kind of David Mament like in plot. 7.5/10

That I'll readily agree with. I'm honestly surprised that it didn't turn into even more of a - special effects spectacle > human drama - though.

Exactly.

And I admit to enjoying the Grease-esque take on "evil" very much. It fits perfectly with the overall tone of the Spiderman movies, and it also helps with avoiding becoming rediculously pretentious.

But yeah, I did find it too busy.

They showed Chronicles of Riddick on TV yesterday, AWESOME movie, one of my top favorites.

When they showed it, 30 minutes after, commercial, and we all know commercials, every fucking 20 minutes they cut to break.

So on the first commercial, I just took the DVD and put on surround and watched it.

So yeah, Chronicles of Riddick :D

In a fit of adventure (!) I ran off and rented National Treasure. It's by no means a particularly deep film, obviously, but it was a good adventurous ride. It had sort of a slow bit in the middle somewhere, but it picked up again towards the end.

The puzzly stuff was mostly hollywood blockbuster devoid of logic.. where the main character has a riddle he must figure out, and everyone else is guessing wrong and he eventually comes up with this STUPIDLY far fetched answer as if the movie audience is too dumb to realise it's impossible to actually reach that conclusion, but HEY! It's an adventure movie. People are hanging on to the back of vans and stuff.

So yeah, 3ish out of 5 maybe.

I thought that movie was pretty bad personally.. I'm sorta shocked they're making a sequel. Riddick is also pretty horrible, but I found in reasonably entertaining for what it is. Shocked that it's one of anyone's favorite movies though. Pitch Black is about a billion times better.. hell.. the video game is better.

Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick is just bad ass.

Pitch Black is less pure dark heavy sci-fi while Chronicles of Riddick is just like that.

I like both, fan of Riddick fan of sci-fi :)

I just like that style of movie, and I sorely miss them. I enjoyed The Mummy aswell, and I'm starved for more. Although not more of The Mummy, the sequel to that was absolutely dreadful.

I liked Chronicles of Riddick back when it looked like it'd become something big. As a first part, setting up a larger story I enjoyed it, but when everyone pulled out of making the proposed trilogy it just lost value for me. :|

Pitch Black is more self contained though, and just generally a more exciting film I reckon.

I do still believe we could use more sci fi epics in the vein of what Riddick was shooting for though. It's getting pretty rediculous when we still have to get excited about the likes of Ep 1-3 if we want sci fi opera.

The Mummy was awesome, like it alot. The Mummy Returns...hell no.
Good but not as the first one, not even close.

Chronicles of Riddick is pretty m uch Pitch Black 2.
Chronicles of Riddick: Dark fury is the sequal to Picth Black, shows what happened between Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick.

I know that Vin Diesel said that there is gonna be another movie coming about Riddick and what happens with him and the necromonger army he gained
