Gran Torino.

I was finally able to watch the movie and I have to say it's easily the best movie I have watched in years.

It opens on Friday here, and I'm definitely looking forward to it. I'm not a Tarantino fan at all really, but Brad Pitt and B.J. Novak are awesome, and it looks like a fun flick.

Watched Fighting the other day. Sucked. Channing Tatum has got to be one of the most boring actors out there. I don't really like Terrence Howard either, and I'm glad he's not returning for Iron Man 2.

Saw G.I. Joe as well. It was fun, but it was terrible. Television-grade cg, terrible one-liners, and a complete lack of clever plot development that is usually ubiquitous in magic-based movies like LOTR and Harry Potter.

I'm a Netflix whore, so it took me a while to see The Dark Knight.

Shoot. 'nuff said.
I could die a happy man now, if I wasn't anticipating another sequel.

(these must be seen in order)

I watched Let the Right One In last night. What an amazing movie. I was upset to hear that a remake is in the works. I don't see how they can ever match the original.

Yea.. it was pretty good. I didn't realize how favorable my opinions were until I tried to write a review. I could basically only glow. I still don't love it as much as most other Tarintino movies, but it was good.

Terminator Salvation

I thought it was great, alot of action and nice machine designs...definitely much better than T3, but not better than T2 (obviously).

I hope the next Terminator delivers the samething or better, obviously better.

Yeah I watched that and District 9 back to back at the cinema and I think IB is easily third in awesomeness behing Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs. I get that people love Kill Bill and I would prolly love Kill Bill too if it was directed by someone else and didn't feel like Tarantino wasted his writing wits on a two hour genre tribute montage, but for me I'll always associate him with his ability to have two people sit down and talk for 15 minutes and be cooler than about five action movies put together. Inglorious Basterds is a return to form as far as I'm concerned, and there were a couple of scenes I immediately wanted to see again as I walked out of the theater.

District 9 was really good. I had a hard time not thinking about how awesome a Halo movie within its framework would've been, and there's definitely some heartbreak involved. It's a bit like becoming real good friends with someone you hoped would become your girlfriend. It's not quite what you reckon it could've been, but it's a great thing regardless. And hey! Better than not getting to see her at all!

Brilliant performances throughout both movies, the main character of D9 really sticks in your mind. Brilliantly portrayed.

Kill Bill is a far more coherent plot than Inglourious Basterds. It's equally well written, well acted, and well directed. Blasphemy.

As I said, I get that people like it, but I don't. It may be well crafted as such, but I simply think Tarantino's involvement with Kill Bill is replacable whereas his fingerprints are all over something like Death Proof and IB. There's just nobody like him when it comes to compelling writing with incredible momentum. Kill Bill just isn't that kind of movie at all, even though Vol 2 certainly sobers up some in that regard. Still, it's an awkward marriage to try and force it into having more dialogue, and in terms of being memorable, Vol 1 in its confident action rompyness (rumpus? :O) is more successful I reckon.

Watched Inglorious Basterds 2 days ago. Enjoyed it, but wouldn't place it above Kill Bill, Reservoir Dog or Pulp Fiction. I guess the reason for it is that the soundtrack, imo, wasn't that good. It had it's moments, but considering the length they were few and far in between, anyway it was well behind his biggest hits. But I too would have watched some of the scenes immediately again, there were just so many clues hidden in the dialogue alone that gave me a lot to think about, and I'm sure I missed some.

I watched Blindness last night. It was... different. It kept me thinking of how much it would suck to suddenly go blind.
It just didn't explain the phenomenon very much, which may be a good thing, I don't know.
There is at least one pretty disturbing scene in the movie that I still can't get out of my head.

The cool thing, though, is that I watched it on Netflix's Watch Instantly thing, which has gotten much better lately.
Not too long ago, you had to use a proprietary Netflix player, and Internet Explorer, with XP SP2.

Now, they've switched to Silverlight
No more Netflix Player, no more IE only, and the stream is much less compressed (before it looked like low quality YouTube crap on my PC).
It's actually worth using now.
hooray

Oh, and I watched Iron Man on DVD and P2 on Netflix Instantly

after seeing you post that, I decided to watch it last night.
It was pretty good and I don't remember seeing any ads on TV for it.

In other news:
I watched The Signal just a few minutes ago and I have to say that is one of best horror films to come out in the last few years. I'd put it up there with 28 Days Later and The Descent, if that means anything to anyone.
Go. see. now.

Okay, back to watching movies...
