Yep, Kick Ass owns.

Also, I actually really liked the new Twilight. Thought it was the best executed of the three. Even those love scenes that they like to do, they're much better handled this time around.

Saw The Last Airbender. Wish I hadn't.

Aside from the absolutely terrible acting and piss-poor cinematography, I was quite frustrated with the all the pronunciation changes. Ahng...Ah-vatar...Agni kYE...Soh-ka. Gah!

Saw Predators today. Mostly enjoyed it while watching it, but in retrospect, I didn't like it.

I want my Predator movies to have some cool action and hunting-related tension, but Predators failed to deliver on both accounts. Also, if anyone thinks it's impossible for a fight between a Predator and a katana-wielding Yakuza member to be boring, you'd be dead wrong.

Also, I just realized I wrote the proper pronunciation of Agni Ki in my above post. The pronunciation used in the movie is Agni Kee. Gross.

I liked the forrest scene, the fight at the end, and I find Shia to be a very talented and engaging actor, but the rest of that movie was garbage.

I'd still rather watch it over Predators any day though. There was literally nothing cool that happened in Predators that would make me want to watch it, or even parts of it, again.

You never know, you might just like it.

To be fair, Rodriguez didn't direct this.

I hate how they're pushing this movie with his name in big letters. It makes me question the faith they have in the project. I still haven't seen it, but reviews are quite mixed from fans. I'm not expecting a failure or a great triumph at this point, but rather something in the middle. Hopefully it can deliver. I'm going to see Inception this week instead though.

My friend and I were bored so we rented 3 Ben Stiller movies to watch baked. The movies were:

Dodgeball: Crap.
Zoolander: Better, but not recommended.
Tropic Thunder: Genuinely good movie. Had quite a laugh.

I watched Inception last night. I thought I hated the ending, but the more I think about it, the less unreasonable it seems. I can't say much without spoiling it, so... and this will be totally spoilery...

They put a bit of a last moment, "what happened" punctuation on the ending. It really bothered me at first. But the more I think about it, the more obvious it is to me what did happen. It sort of takes the form of "One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest." In Cuckoos Nest, the entire premise of the end is shaken by the narration, changing your perception of what the story means and how the story ends. I'm not sure they're really the same mechanism, but they had a similar effect on me in retrospect. Inception doesn't leave you with any definite answers on the outcome of the story, and in fact, it may leave you holding on to hopes of a happy ending, but the opposite outcome seems more clear to me now. They never show the final trigger, designed to wake the main characters, and the scene were Leo finally gets home is identical to the version in his dream world, right down to the age of his children and the clothing they're wearing. It seems pretty clear to me that despite the "left to your interpretation" ending that he is indeed still stuck in his own head.

Sad really. Well, really sad, or really happy, depending on how you chose to interpret those final moments.

So.. I'm not sure I loved it, but it certainly forces you to think about it. I'm not usually this unsure about where I stand on something this long after the fact either...
