That's really a bummer, but I'm sure it's destined to become a cult classic. The best reviewed movie of the week, something uniquely positioned for the generation that grew up on games and a pretty good amount of awesomeness for people who grew up loving music and girls too.. and it bombed. I want to see it again.

I know that it's a love it or hate it affair, but it seems like most people I know loved it, and judging by the rotten tomatoes profile, so did a lot of critics. Edgar Wright is 3 for 3 for me.

I'm going to see it tonight. I hope I like it, but from the previews, it looks like it's trying too hard to force so many references in an attempt to appeal to the geek-hipster crowd. Who knows though...maybe I'll enjoy it regardless. Afterall, I don't have a mad hate-on for Michael Cera like almost everybody seems to, and I'm pretty sure I want to have Mary Elizabeth Winstead's babies.

Also, I saw The Expendables a few nights ago. Bit of a rocky start with a weaksauce action scene and some awkward banter peppered throughout. But holy shit, does it ever bring it during the final action scene. I couldn't wipe the smile off my face, and my roommate applauded on more than one occasion. So much knife throwing ftw.

I think that Michael Cera hate has a lot to do with the box office floppage. I was also a little apprehensive about Scott Pilgrim prior to seeing it. I think in a way it's a victim of its own hype. I'm absolutely in love with it now though. It's a simple movie, in many ways, but it's refreshing in that it knows what it is. It doesn't attempt to be something more and it's all the more awesome for it. It actually made me seek out the comics and made me even more interested in the game. Frankly, it's the best video game movie that I've ever seen, and it's not even about video games. The movie is actually a much bigger critical success than I ever saw coming.

I didn't even know it was directed by Edgar Wright until the night after I saw it, but it sorta explains how good it is to me. He adapted the screen play and directed it, and every other movie I've seen him put together has been an astounding success for me (Shaun of The Dead, Hot Fuzz). He's really on a roll. I can't wait to see what he does next. I hope the failure of Scott Pilgrim to become a smash at the box office doesn't have too great an impact on whatever that is.

I want to see it again. I wanted to see it again the next day. That's pretty rare for me.

I think it has to do with the amount of bitch characters he plays really. After so many times you really just want to punch him in the face.

You mean you want to she has your babies?

Or you really want to have her babies?

It's a joke. But yes, I totally want to make the sex with her. Prettiest eyes ever...man oh man!

Anyways, I'm back from seeing it. I enjoyed it enough. I thought the parts with Chris Evans and Brandon Routh were quite funny, but the rest of the movie's humour was a bit hit or miss for me. While I liked the use of music and thought it suited the hipster/indie vibe well, it's not a kind of music I can particularly stand. Good for the movie but not something I'd ever listen to.

Somebody has to play those roles though, and hating an actor for playing those roles is pretty dumb.

Wow, I haven't watched any films recently, I'm really tempted to watch requiem for a dream, but I shouldn't, because it's more depressing than a cancer suffering kitten choking on a life saving pill.

I just got back from The Expendables as well and i was pleased. It was dumb action, but it did it so well that you couldn't really help but like it :)

I do ahve a few complaints about it though, mainly the hectic cuts and the shaky-cam that made the action sequences feel disjointed and hard to follow at times but also the fact that the characters weren't really characters, they were just the actors fighting and poking fun at old-school action flicks. Nothing really wrong with that i guess, and i can't say that i really expected anything else, but still...it's worth mentioning.

Great movie overall though, very enjoyable :)

IMO that movie did a lot of things right that a lot of big blockbusters movies do wrong, liek for example in this movie there is a sense of how should I put it,like progression in the events that happened.

I dont know I just liked the way it was directed and paced.
