The New Amityville Horror- My Sgt and I started to watch it when we were on Staff Duty( a 24 hour shift where you sit a desk and sign visitors in/out and act as security guard), and It started pretty well( I'm a fan of Ryan Reynolds), but my NCO freaked out and turned it off, lol. Never went back to see the rest...

Ryan Reynolds was great, as were all the actors. I just don't like most of the other choices in the remake.

Yeah, despite my man-crush on Ryan Reynolds, the movie just didn't do it for me.

I saw Scott Pilgrim vs. The World last night. It was really fucking fantastic. I had my doubts about this one, since, while I have always liked Michael Cera, he's also a little samey in every film he's in. The dead-pan delivery is exactly what Scott Pilgrim needed. This character is perfect for him. It's funny and a little touching at the same time. The best video game movie ever made isn't actually about video games. It's fun, and very funny. It's definitely not for everyone though. You have to be a geek to "get" it I'm sure, and you have to be into the things the movie is into to appreciate it. It's a movie about music and games and girls and I love it. A few days ago I came to the realization that I was actually more excited about the XBLA game than the movie. Boy has this warped my opinion back into reality. I'm even more psyched to play the arcade game though.

A-fucking-plus. Be warned that it's clearly not for everyone, but if it's for you it's pretty fucking adorable. And since you're on a video game forum, there's a pretty good chance that it's for you. I've seen some critics complain about how you have to "get" Scott Pilgrim, or about how it has a love affair with itself or its audience. All of those things are probably true, but it hardly damages my enjoyment of this movie. Just be warned that at its core it's a fantastical love story between a boy and a girl (lol sorry I couldn't help it).

Oh, and the crowd last night was ridiculous. I wish I was on whatever they had!

I'm not sure what The Matrix attempted to do, but I'll always pick watching it over Inception any day of the week.

The question of what is reality i guess? People wake up and realize what they thought was real isn't and inception asks how you know what is real. I don't really think the comparison is especially valid but i see why some people make it i guess.

Truly terrible? No. Progressively worse? Yes. The first chapter is still one of the best sci-fi action films out there. But really, who fucking cares? I can't wait until you guys get over Inception so we can actually talk about other movies again without coming full circle. I guess we reverted the thread title a little early.

I think The Matrix was carried by the effects a bit much. It was mindblowing at the time but the awesome of it has sort of diminished over time. Like Avatar, that movie is fucking awesome right now becasue the visuals are, hands down, the most impressive CG and 3D effects ever EVER seen. Will it be as awesome in 10 years? I kind of doubt it, it'll still be an ok movie but the impact will have faded away.

Matrix was great. The sequels decreased in quality, but i still enjoyed them, because of the cool action. I saw them recently and it still holds pretty good.

Okay so i went Star wars crazy, and watched all 6 movies.

Saw the *new* trilogy, well rewatched. The first two episodes are meh, enjoyed more episode 3.

High points for me was Darth Sidious his plots/plans. For example like how he controled 2 armies and made them fight eachother, among other things, epic!
The Anakin vs Obiwan fight was pretty epic, as the Yoda vs Sidious fight. Was cool see Vader at the end, but all ruined because of: Noooooooooooooo....

And saw for the first time the original trilogy. Wow, so good. Blows episode 1,2,3 away! Great characters (Han Solo, Chewbacca etc).

Was kinda interesting seeing all movies in chronological order. Better late than never i guess :P

Disagree completely. I can still watch The Matrix over and over again when it's on tv(strictly speaking of the first and only one). Avatar, on the other hand, left me with absolutely no excitement afterwards, and I doubt I'll ever watch it again.

If you're solely talking about the first movie in the trilogy, then I'll take it back somewhat. If you're talking about the trilogy then, I'm sorry, but that's a dumb statement in itself. The second and third movies are garbage.

I have to side with blm. I will watch the trilogy for the entertainment of it, but there is no denying 2 and 3 are pretty shitty in the end

I would also agree though that I might watch The Matrix over Inception. Simply because Inception's story is actually pretty depressing at times

Of course I was only talking about the first movie...hence why I said "The Matrix" and not "the Matrix movies" or "the Matrix trilogy."
then I'll take it back somewhat.
Still pretty dumb that you'd only "somewhat" take back saying The Matrix(the first one) is "truly terrible."

I can only watch a movie for its story so many times and generally not in close proximity. I can watch a movie for its action a good deal more frequently though, and The Matrix walks all over Inception in that regard...hence the ease with which I can rewatch it time and time again.

Yeah, let's pretend that's what you said. Meanwhile, I'll lament how terrible Citizen Kane is. I mean, it's got some good drama but nothing more for me. No explosions or gunfights? And people say it's a good movie?

Hey, it's your opinion. I personally think Citizen Kane is an excellent film. ;)
