Since Sasuke had to got lvl 2 curse seal to overpower it, in the tsukyomi at least, I doubt that Sasuke can just overpower Itachi. Up to this point it's been ALL genjutsu fighting but Itachi was the youngest Unobu ever. He has to have some pretty awesome taijutsu and ninjutsu not counting what he has picked up from just going sharingan when he sees some jutsu he likes over the years.

Sasuke has become very powerful but Itachi has the mangekyou plus years more experience fighting tailed beasts. I don't see him winning without some sort of help. Like a distraction from the Kisame v Suigetsu fight that is going on at the same time.

Very good point. Sasuke looks very impressive, but he did have to force a lot of power in to overcome it.

He didn't actually go Cursed seal level 2 that was just what we were seeing in the illusion, but perhaps it was symbollic of the fact that the power he had to expend to escape the tsukyomi was indeed the power of the cursed seal.

I agree Itachi doesn't just have incredible taijutsu we've seen how incredibly he can use his ninjutsu to get things done like what he did against Kakashi the first time they fought eachother.

It may be one thing to be able to compete on even footing in a genjutsu battle against Itachi, but another entirely to take him head on where the consequences are real and not merely some illusion. Then there is the question of how exactly Sasuke would hold up if he were to be in a serious fight with Itachi where injuries will no doubt take place and exhaustion will surely rear it's head at some point while Itachi is working in some genjutsu into the mix?

The more physically injured or exhausted Sasuke becomes the harder it will be for him to fight off genjutsu or even the Mangekyou Sharingan's abilities. That would obviously apply to Itachi as well, but of course this is assuming Sasuke ONLY has a normal sharingan as of this moment.

I'll be interested in seeing how Sasuke handles a Tsukyomi once he becomes injured in this fight. There has to be a limit. I get the feeling there is just no way Itachi is telling the truth about his true intentions for Sasuke. I don't believe that he wants his eyes at all. I think he's been trying his hardest for the many years to get Sasuke to surpass him and has been teaching him how to do that in hopes that he would not only be able to defeat him, but Madara as well.

There is more than meets the eye with Itachi. There is something very important that he wanted to tell Naruto.

This fight between Sasuke and Itachi has been going on for so long what other fights are we missing? There the Kisame v Suigetsu fight & the Naruto and gang v Tobi fight that i remember.

What happened to Kabuto with his absorption of Orochimaru? There has to be some sort of long term damage from that.

What's up with Pein? Is Jiraiya really dead? He always seems to have some hidden trick up his sleeve. What's the rest of Naruto's gang doing? Just watching him fight Tobi? Will we ever know WTF is up with Zetsu? And many more questions.

Get this fight over with. IT's awesome but has been going on for a bit to long.

Jiraiya is dead for good no question about that.

Pain has yet to show the true powers of the Rinnegan I know that for a fact.

Kabuto is seeking to become more powerful than Oro ever was and I think he will succeed. I think Orochimaru will be reborn in Kabuto with the immortality he has always been seeking. I suspect Oro will find that Kabuto the entire time was the perfect body for him as due to the powers of the white snake (which was suppose to be a symbol of rebirth) and with Kabuto's rare healing abilities could make for a killer combination.

All the fights are

Hidan and Kakuzu vs Atsuma along with Shikamaru, chouji and ino. Atsuma dies.
Shikamaru, Kakashi along with Ino and Chouji vs Hidan and Kakuzu.

Shikamaru owns Hidan Naruto shows up and annihilates Kakuzu with his not yet perfected rasenshuriken.

Sasuke vs Orochimaru.
Sasuke + Suigetsu vs like over a 100 cursed seal level 2 enemies they all get ownt because Sasuke is a god.

Sasuke vs Deidara

Jiraiya vs Pain (akatsuki leader) Jiraiya kicks some serious ass, but due to Pain's secret he ends up surprising then giving Jiraiya one of the worst beatdowns in the anime all without using a single Ninjutsu the entire fight.

The manga is generally much better but some of the fights do seem to be better in the anime. An example of this is the Sasuke v Itachi fight. This fight has lasted in "manga time" what... a few minutes at most. In real world time this has been going on since the end of November. Some me some other action or wrap it up!

Raw of chapter 389... Sasuke is flat out owning Itachi right now it isn't even funny. Wtf is going on here? Something really doesn't seem right how in god's name could Sasuke be this friggin powerful to the point where he's making Itachi look like child's play?

All without even using the power of the cursed seal...

Well he did use it barely, but wow... Sasuke unleashed Ameratasu in the end though it seems, but he is sweating and really being pushed to the limit by Sasuke and Sasuke is still making it all look so damn easy.

I wouldn't say that Sasuke is owning Itachi as it is. It seems both are being pushed to their limits now and Itachi is having an advantage thanks to these black flames. Perhaps Sasuke still has something up his sleeve though.

Sasuke tossed that windmill shuriken at him only for a second one to be in the shadow of the first and it hit Itachi in his leg then Sasuke used a string to pull it back and when Itachi was going to dodge it Sasuke split up the Windmill Shuriken and had a piece of it hit Itachi in the back that is pretty damn owned to me. Itachi is being pushed to his limit and even sweating. Sasuke is still smiling and making this all look easy. He is barely using the power of the Cursed Seal and has overpowered Itachi's katon.

Sasuke is thinking so many steps ahead in this fight it's incredible.

Itachi really does have to step his game up.

Zetsu said that Itachi should've been able to dodge that attack easily.

Sasuke is pretty much fighting an Itachi that is handicapped severely by the fact that he's going blind. His refleces are even worse since Sasuke escaped Tsukyomi.

Can't wait for next chapter to see how Sasuke handles Amaterasu.

I agree with you Op, Sasuke seems to have pulled a SSJ on Itachi. Itachi might be going blind and weakened from using Tsukyomi AND allowed Sasuke to surprise him by not being serious in the beginning but this is Itachi we're talking about here. The BEST Anubu the Leaf Village has ever produced. He has trained under Madara directly. I don't care how great you think Orochimaru is, Madara is FAR superior (even in his "severely weakened state") and should be able to teach Itachi how to just about perfectly use the Mangekyo Sharingan. Madara HAS to have just about the same number of jutsu if not more then Orochimaru thanks to the sharingan's ability to copy. Itachi is also considered one of the most intelligent ninjas also. As smart as if not smarter then Kakashi.

This fight isn't making sense. This should be a Rocky Balboa vs Ivan Drago fight. It should leave the victor just above death and looking like Jariya after his Pein beating. As it stands now, Sasuke looks like he's going to win with ZERO battle scars. At worst he'll break a sweat.

He isn't the best Anbu the leaf has ever produced, but he has to most definitely be one of the best.

Remember back in the day when Itachi use to actually practice with his eyes closed? I think Itachi is going to take Sasuke on in an even fight or even outclass him while being completely blind later on in this fight proving that while Sasuke was always destined to surpass him, if Itachi had a perfect pair of eyes Sasuke would lose. No way Sasuke comes out of this fight making Itachi look like a complete noob. Itachi is an amazing shinobi he has to have something up his sleeves. I already know how Sasuke is going to be Amaterasu though. Zetsu said that Amaterasu can turn everything to cinder within the eye's vision of sight. Sasuke is going to find out what a safe range is from Itachi and as Itachi further goes blind his Amaterasu will be less effective.

Itachi, I suspect, has some secret motivations that we still don't know about just yet.

A couple chapters back where Zetsu said the Sharingan is a ninja's tool and an expert rock thrower could defeat someone throwing kunai makes me suspect at one point or another Kakashi is going to learn how to use the Sharingan where it doesn't cause him to become fatigued easily.

Anyone suspect that the reason Tobi has only shown us one eye thus far (right eye) is due to the fact that it isn't Madara, but merely his younger brother? What if Madara was actually killed by his younger brother on the night that he tried to steal his eyes? Maybe I'm just thinking too much there.

so much hype for this fight that kishi won't satisfy everyone. people expected cool an unseen ninja skills from a certain someone.

what people don't understand is the growth of itachi and sasuke. its like a marathon, itachi is the type of athlet who when they say GO sprints to the finish line, sasuke is the one who starts off slowly but as he appraches the finish line speeds up and evantually takes over.

now people bitching about sasuke being godly while true, its also logical. let refresh our memorires.

1. sasuke posses more pontetnial than his brother. mentioned since part1 (by oro) and part 2 by tobi after DD fight

2. sasuke is highly experienced sharigan user, might as well say his mastered normal sharigan (and highly experienced uchiha can hold his own against an MS user) and i believe this is itachi true test as to how strong he is, before people would fall for his finger or eyes genjutsu and it would be over. now he faces an opponent on same level in genjutsu and suddenly his stumbling.
3. sasuke will or hatred has grown so strong that itachi has underestimated his little brother.

now i'm not trying to say sasuke is the strongest between the two. but his reached a level to keep up with itachi's level (hasn't overtaken him in the marathon but closely behind), and this battle is full of conditions. like itachi's blindness is causing him to slow down. itachi has reached the pinnacle of his abilities or needed for him is to be effeciently in how he uses his jutsu's, the other level he can go to is by obtaining EMS, hence this fight.

Next his hair is going to go gold and spikey and they are going to throw around terms like "His power level is 1,000,000!"

If you get hit with a technique like Amaterasu and you shouldn't be able to overcome it. Even Jariya couldn't do that since it broke out of his toad throat and he had to seal the fire away. It would make sense if Sasuke beats it by dodging it since i believe that using it forces one to stand still. Use some of that level 2 speed and just attack from behind. I think this fight is getting out of hand and just needs to be ended one way or another.

He used Orochimaru's melting away clone technique to escape it. kawarimi no jutsu

Zetsu's thoughts: The terrible flame has consumed the other flame completely! By looking at the object (the user) wishes to burn, the black flames will start burning from this visual point. Objects caught by the black flames will burn to nothingness. Even if the object is fire itself!

Amaterasu erupts on Sasuke's wing.

Sasuke: Guaaah!

Zetsu: So Itachi wins after all! He's stopped Amaterasu. He's going after his eyes.

As Itachi attempts to touch Sasuke's collapsed body, it melts away. Orochimaru's kawarimi!

Sasuke: Just the moment I've been waiting for! (He activates the curse seal level 2).

Itachi puts his hands to his eye and coughs blood repeatedly.

Sasuke "Katon, Gouryuuka no jutsu!"

(Gouryuuka: Grand Dragon Fire)

Dragon shaped flames strike Itachi's right arm.

Both (Sasuke and Itachi) are now panting violently.

Zetsu: They both look exhausted. I'd say they're out of chakra.

Sasuke's curse seal disappears.

Sasuke: I guess this'll be my last jutsu.

Itachi: Drop the act - sharingan detects chakra, and I can tell you're out of it.

Itachi: You used Orochimaru's kawarimi no jutsu to dodge Amaterasu. It's quite effective, but uses up a great deal of chakra.

Zetsu: Oh, I see. Since Sasuke absorbed Orochimaru...

Sasuke: Yeah, I'm out of chakra, alright - all of it went into that last Katon...but you really think I'd come here to kill you, without doing anything beforehand? It's the same...just like Amaterasu...you can't dodge it. Now then, the moment you've been waiting for: my rendition of your death!

Sasuke finally defeats Itachi! Next issue: "The ace up his sleeve!"

He has some unbelievable technique up his sleeves it seems that requires no chakra.

He didn't get hit by it.

He used Orochimaru's melting away clone technique to escape it.  kawarimi no jutsu
