PTR for Overwatch! That's huge! Thank god. I remember when DICE opened CTE and people tried to spin endless betas as a bad thing. It's a little less community focused than CTE.. but this is still great.

I'll install this in a bit.

I'm downloading the PTR client. I don't see any indication that it's messing with the regular client. I think Tinks got lost.

They should display peoples quick-play MMR too. The more transparency in match making, the better!

Played out my qualifying matches in solo queue. Went 5/5. Rank 48. Do ranks go down or up?

I really like the new system. It's stopwatch-like without being stopwatch. Payloads are based on distance, instead of time, so you can still force overtime by finishing slower than the other team, as long as you finish. Overtime on whatever map you're playing. If it's payload it's a payload mqp, etc. It no longer switches location or gametype. You can force an early win now too, if your team is able to win more points in whatever gametype you're playing. The exception is KOTH, which is now best 3/5 rounds.

Since MMR rank has only 100 levels, and there's still a symbol associated with your rank.. it kinda feels like a tier.

Good first impressions.

I agree, the more info you have about where you are at in the game, the better. Less invisible MMR in all games pls.

He's extremely strong until you run into a competent McCree player, and then you stop having fun.

All characters have counters, the mobility and ability to bait shit out is very good with Reaper even if a McCree can stun you.

Especially post-nerf. A lot of people miss a few shots with the fanhammer. You can ghost the fuck out of a McCree or Roadhog 1v1 a lot easier than someone like Tracer can. If you get hooked or flashed with Tracer, you should be dead. Reaper gets away from my Roadhog hooks enough that I've begun to avoid hooking him, or at least only do it with the intention to disrupt.

Reaper is great at creeping and reaping. His DPS is insane.

So I guess comp placement has very little to do with winning. MMR shouldn't weigh winning heavily, but I'm wondering if this is really the best solution. I feel like there should be some kind of middle ground. Like... maybe both? Maybe it doesn't matter. Winning is still incentivized through rewards, and if everyone is worried about individual performance, that should improve the quality of team play as well.

How about the season rewards? 300 wins for a golden gun? Is that too much? Will season rewards disappear after the season is over? I would love it if you could only get a golden gun in season 1, but I somehow doubt that will be the case.

I really don't think I'll be playing competitive. I hardly have time to play, I really don't see how I'd ever get to 300 wins.

I'm going to play it.. but I probably won't take it too seriously. I will play in solo queue if I need to. I'm curious to see what a few people I play with place as. Skill gaps among friends will divide players in comp.. but I don't mind. I will have golden pistols for Tracer.

300 comp wins takes longer than 300 quick-play wins too. I guess this is good. I want golden guns to be relatively rare :D

Regardless.. It's good to see an upfront commitment to expanding an already great game.

God the matchmaker in this game is horrendous. I realize they prioritize matchmaking speed over everything else, but when the games are 3 minutes long because one team litereally cannot get a single elimination, its not fun for anyone. A complete waste of time actually. And its like half of my solo queue matches. The only good games I get are when I'm grouped with friends.

Thankfully that hasn't been my experience. I've had a pretty good experience with match-making. Your friends are probably more skilled than mine, but I actually find solo queue more easy going and relaxing at times. I feel like I'm driving the short bus more frequently in Battlefield. I do play a lot of support in solo queue... maybe that's why I've had more success. Everyone tries to force the last pick to play support. They're usually bad at it.

Hanzo os a total cheeselord. All games have at lesat 1, often 2, hanzos. Worst part? Most of em suck massive dongs all game long. I should freestyle rap battle, that was sick.

I hate that about so many pub players. They pick dos characters then all they do is stand and camp in a corner. Fuck objektives when some kills are on the friggin line!

Been getting super weird matches today though. Like lv 3 guys on my team and lv 80 as opponents. Like, wut? Cant do shit against these nolife fuckers.
