Been playing some more today and i'm starting to get in to it, but every other minute or so i get massive lag spikes, which is annoying as all hell. My RTT jumps from like 40-50 up to like 200 for a second, and i just stand around twitching like a retard :P

Also Pigman for president.

Unfortunately, in this game as most games of this nature, you can't escape the drooling retards. 17 sec objective time. Undisputed king of doing objectives. Yay pub games.

Love this as well. Got a team mate fighting Soldier Somenumber and so i go in to help. I hook him and blast him in the face. Needs one or two more shots to get him but he tosses the heal down. Realize i am alone because the other guy facied a wank or something. Soldier activates auto aim, dead. The team play is real.

Along those lines
I've been surprised lately how little people use voice chat in this game

Hopefully that changes with time and people talk to each other more
It'd help team play quite a lot

I am really loving the shit out of this game though. Haven't had so much fun in a long long time

I'm kinda torn, because I do like the game, but at times I think it has too much diversity of its cast at the onset. It reminds me a lot of Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare, except I think that handled unlocks a bit better (making them useful, not overwhelming new players). Part of me just wants to get GW2. I am enjoying the beta, but often times I feel like I'm at the mercy of my team, which I never felt like that was the case in GW. With it releasing so close to Uncharted 4 I'm unsure whether I'll be playing Overwatch this May or waiting.

You want gameplay stuff to be locked? I can't stand GW's unlock system. It's 100% RNG nonsense!

Is that GW2 trial still running?

Anyway.. it's kind of important that heroes are not locked at the onset in Overwatch. You could get pretty screwed if your team did not have the right asset available. Being able to respond to certain situations in Overwatch is sorta crucial.

I actually find it more constrained than TF2 with its gazillion weapons. It's also appealing to me that Blizzard respects predictability to a degree that's kinda surprising given all the easy-mode/kid-glove bullshit.

I think gradually introducing new characters as you rank up is better than throwing everyone at you at the start. It's very difficult to force yourself to find the pros and cons of each hero in a class when you can just jump to another one. I agree the RNG aspect would be a frustrating addition, but whenever you unlocked a new character in GW you had so much experience with the class overall you could tell whether it would click with you or not. Maybe not all the roster over 50 ranks or w/e, but maybe 10-20. It's kinda overwhelming as it is. And I have no idea why I should care about the loot boxes at this point.

I can see how it might overwhelm but I think having the characters available makes learning match ups easier personally. I think that's true in fighters and maybe MOBAs too.

I think locking characters sorta destroyed DirtyBomb, and I am glad Overwatch (and hopefully LawBreakers) gives you all of the essential stuff immediately. DirtyBomb was a better game in closed beta when all of the mercs were available to all players. When they started locking characters behind XP gates, they really destroyed the class diversity that you'd see in any given round. I don't want that to happen to Overwatch. I think it could wreck the game. I've never really enjoyed progression in multiplayer games though. I'm not all about unlocking stuff.

I get it though. I just like it this way personally.

As for loot boxes.. SKINZ. Don't tell me you don't want firefighter Mei.

I think it is jarring at first having so many.
If you can start against AI I'd suggest it. That way you feel less shitty about your starting skill level.
Plus you can try out a bunch of characters without caring.

I've been playing for over a week now and I have a full grasp of maybe 4-5 characters at this point lol

I prefer everything unlocked as well.
R6 has an unlock system that really sucks and makes you grind like fucking hell.
They really want you spending real money to earn chars. No thx

Well in fighters it's more difficult to fully grasp a characters mechanics and match ups.. and I think having them available still makes it easier. I remember grinding out characters back in the day in those games too.. and it was never fun. A chore.

Played some fun games with some of my Battlefield vets tonight. A few guys are uncomfortable with "cartoony" games, which always surprises me. They're playing it quite a bit and having a lot of fun too.. but they still seem on the fence. I totally don't get it.

I'm already sold. I wasted $20 on skins.

There's nothing worse in a game like this when you want to play a character, but it's arbitrarily walled off just to give players progression or some other bullshit like that. No, a game that relies on team comps needs to have all characters unlocked, i think.

Everything resets and gets wiped out, so don't get too attached to your loot

I'm not a huge fan of it because then all the vets are tearing apart scrubs at the onset, but I guess it is what it is

I'm on the Grift skin train too
I wish I had that art book though

I'm not sure it NEEDS to.. the most popular MOBA in the world and the game that everyone is emulating (League) locks characters behind (grindy) XP gates, but still requires good team comp. And while I don't play it.. it seems to be pretty popular :D

But I think it's better this way anyway.

I haven't unlocked any good skins in the open beta.. but at least I've got my origin editions skins. Slipstream Tracer is maybe my favorite Tracer skin now too. Ya gotta love the level of detail. I love how all of the weapons are skinned too. It makes them easier to appreciate from the first person perspective.

I played a bunch of Pharah last night. I love destroying snipers and turrets with the rocket queen.

You know what's really annoying? When five of your teammates have locked in with no healer, and then #6 is a fucking jack-ass and picks Tracer even though there's already Tracer on your team. But they're too stubborn to chose another role, so now the good Tracer needs to switch to support in order to give your team a chance.

Fuckin' a. Be considerate of your teammates choices.

LoL would be a better game if it all was available form the get go. I HATE the runes and masteries in that gmae as well. It's just to lure people to spend money. I'm not sure it's a direct casue either, but a game like DotA feels like the heroes have more personality with their kits as they don't have to stick to an archetype quite as strictly, as an open player pool means you can have hard counters and stuff without having that ruin the balance. If you know what i mean.

Also i'm pretty sure you yourself has said that popularity and quality isn't the same thing ;)

Sure.. but I have no real reason to doubt that League is a quality game.

We're mostly agreeing here anyway. Locking characters bad.

League is a good game, it'd just be a bit better if you had all the heroes from the start, and maybe they removed the progression stuff. There's no reason why a player that played and leveled up should just be stronger/more flexible than a new player. It's dumb.

Love that about Smite as well, f2p or just buy the game if you like it, and no bullshit.

More on topic, how is flashbang OP? Sure kill if you get the drop on a single target for sure, but i mean...it's not THAT strong, is it? Is Roadhogs hook also OP? :P

He's probably playing Tracer.. and it shuts her down fast. Tracer is not for the faint of heart. She's a DPS character that can be one-hit-killed by an absurd amount of stuff. She also has incredibly high dmg output, is the fastest hero, and best flanker in the game.
