Comparison shots.
Nice, I'd like to see more.

Thinking about this, I actually could do it myself using "direct feed" pics. But I would have to find the perfect time for that, maybe next week.

Didn't Jin said PGR3 had better road textures?

Anyways, that is an amazing example of the importance of AF. Shadowing is also much better and lighting is more natural as I had already said..

Almost everything is better ;)

And I posted the link because the arguement that the game is a minor, or even not noticable, upgrade is really odd because side by side the difference is substantial. I find it an interesting dynamic that people can pick things out of a different game that have less disparity but see it as "better" (mainly due to art style) and cannot see the differences in a sequal because the art direction is so heavy that the technicals aren't as obvious.

I'm getting back into PGR4. The sense of speed and attention to detail is insane. Driving in bumpercam on a wet nurburgring is awesome.

I actually just picked it up recently. Got it used for $10. Pretty happy with it so far but I have to say that I'm still a little taken aback with both the event selection and car collecting/unlocking. I just think PGR3 was better in that respect.. but it's still a good game. I should play it a bit more myself.

I played PGR4 more than I did FM2. It just flowed better, and had a lot more tracks than Forza. Needless to say, PGR4 still looks better than any game out there. The city detail is simply unmatched. It is also thus far the only serious racing game that does weather. The Nurburgring challenge with that old-school race car on the pictures by vspectra was something else.

Yes game is arcady with handling that resembles the real life cars. I didn't play any previous PGR and thought PGR 4 was fantastic. Those shots above remind me of how good the game looked, still stomps all over most racers today in terms of gfx.

My only significant complaints about PGR4 are the roads are frequently too narrow and the kudos sometimes detract from racing which the game does a servicable job at. The split screen online and with AI is a big perk. The biggest problem with the graphics is they seem too obsessed with a variety of weather conditions and have too many overcast settings which don't allow the game to really "shine" as the game, like most, look best in bright environments with a lot of contrast.

They are only too narrow for those who can't drive!

I thought there was variety, and that's what a great plus to me too. Sure some were a bit narrow, specially for bikes (I know, ironic) but good for a challenge. I remember in Moscow in PGR2, it had some of the wider tracks ever.

I never had a problem with the narrow roads either. I actually like them since the closer side objects add to the sense of speed, especially once you keep going and don't hit any walls. :p

Man, I'm going to miss Bizarre making these games :(

EDIT: By the way, great shots there, although I noticed there is a travesty in there (FM2)

I don't agree. If you play Las Vegas or Tokyo at night, the game also looks very stunning with all that illuminated advertising (in Vegas you have cool lightning effects). PGR4 provides the best cities of any racing game. Only the vegetation (like trees) isn't really good and other games like GRID, DIRT or Forza provides much better vegetation. What i also don't like is the car paint or lighting on cars. Maybe they didn't managed it better, because of the water effects on the car body.

after seeing the screenshots I pulled the trigger and got mine from goozex.
http://www.goozex.com/referral.asp?idr=61954145872...

I have all the PGRs except this one... and didn't feel like dropping the cash on it at the time... but got a good deal on goozex. Goozex is a game trading service here in the states.

The screenshots do show that this is one of the finest looking games graphically on 360. I also have a friend who just got a 360 and on LIVE and he has the game so it should be fun racing with him.

You disagreed with nothing I said but disagree... how... interesting. That is one disagreement I can agree with!

Now if you were argueng low contrast overcast settings look superb your comment would make more sense...
