Recommending SC is like recommending Diablo 2 both great games but in todays world they just don't measure up to the experience you remember, nostalgia is a strange and wonderful thing ya know. :)

SC and D2 both aged pretty damn well, graphics aside. There's no need for nostalgia unless you're an eyecandy whore. I admit, D2 can be hard on the eyes, but it's in no way less fun than it was when it was new. On another note, I sorta doubt there was an NDA at all if Giantbomb and 1UP streamed a match versus each other. That would be pretty unprofessional if there was any agreement not to do such things.

True about the NDA, I was being sarcastic anyway.

For me graphics are a huge part of a game especially when it comes to the likes of these sorts of games.

Especially these sorts of games?! That seems really friggin' strange to me considering how much more glaringly bad most other genres age with respect to graphics.

The original SC was simple-looking enough and brightly coloured enough that it still doesn't really look all that bad.

I can honestly tell you that even D2 isn't looking that hot anymore, I could finish another run through with a character without even giving it second thought...
I have to be honest and say I rather have Diablo 3 out right now then Starcraft 2 but SC2 will do in the mean time

When I meant these sorts of games I should have just said old 2D games, cause after thinking about it I feel the same way about all of them.

Except maybe Rayman :O

But then I suppose its isometric 2D, which is kind of different.

I had to laugh at most of what the Ghost said. "Nuc-u-lar launch detected" Everything had such a weird cadence to it. Sounded good though!

There are ways to play the game SP against the CPU, so I've been indulging quite a bit. Colossi with the range upgrade are absolute beasts! And the Terran's music is this mellow Southern rock that makes me feel all funny inside.

Love watching HD's videos. I'm a lot more educated in SC tactics thanks to his commentaries.

Shame I can't enter, I won't be able to go online the day he announces the winner.

Ron is the single player, easy-ish to set up? I might have to give it a whirl as I am dying to play this game.

There's two or three files you need to download...in addition to any maps you want to play on. I can message you the links if you'd like...I'm not sure if it's kosher to even be discussing this on here...though this isn't taking any money away from anyone.

I'm not really sure if it's kosher either, but I'm going to assume that it is for now. I mean, you're not illegally downloading anything. The beta client is publicly available, and what you do to the files once they're on your PC is your business as far as I'm personally concerned. You're not even breaking an EULA if you don't have to agree to one to download it.

There are updated AI patches as well that apparently change the AI opponents tactics and what not.

Thanks, works a treat. It's pretty fun just sandboxing and seeing what the units are like. I think I would get murdered online. Just don't have the micro skills.
