What I don't like is the fact that Half Life 2 is a port of the Xbox version, and supposedly loading times can be up to a minute long which is just WRONG!

Why couldn't they have implemented their HDR here? Better textures?

It really gives me no reason to play Half Life 2 again. I have the PC version and that looks better, so really, no reason. I really wonder if two expansions, and two very short games really add up to $60.--Yes, I question the value.

6 Maps for Team Fortress was a big surprise for me too. There' NO WAY this game could stand on its own for $60 or even $50 like someone say it does. No matter how good it is, the value is not really there. If I was criticizing Shadowrun's measly 11 maps and being MP-only, 6 maps and a better game gets you to the same place, a low value.

I think I'll wait for COD4 to come out and then decide what to buy.

What's all this noise about it being a port of the Xbox version? How so? Also, I thought they implemented HDR into HL2 from start to finish in the console version? None of that bothers me much anyway -- PC version for me all the way.

IGN says so, and the loadings too!

Really, if they really didn't bother to improve textures other than resolution, I'm disappointed. I have the PC version modded with the cinematic mod and the textures are simply awesome on characters, yet somehow the 360 version does not have it, according to the IGN review anyways.

Weird.. I thought they implemented HDR at least. Oh well.. IGN didn't seem to mind so much that they didn't still give it a 9.5. The PC versions a much better value IMO anyway. I see no purpose in playing it on the 360.. especially with the games relatively low system requirements.

On the PC this is a non-issue, because you're sure to get a lot more official and community-made maps later all for *free*.. On the Xbox 360 (and PS3?) it's probably different, because most likely they are gonna screw people over again with their beloved 'premium' DLC.. So yeah, you could doubt TF2's value on the consoles..

But like GriftGFX already said, 'None of that bothers me much anyway -- PC version for me all the way.'

And since I think most consolegamers that are gonna buy the Orange Box have never really played HL2, that game incl. the 2 Episodes and Portal make the package still well worth 60 bucks..

LEBATO it looks like that xbox port malarkey is nonsense. Many people/publications have reported that HL2 looks better on the 360 than the original. It DOES have HDR, and not only improved texture resolution but also some new character models/textures.

By the by I dont appreciate being called a fanny boy. I love Halo.

One question, how does TF stress the computer when compared to Half Life 2/CSS?

EDIT: I just read the Gamespot review and they say Half Life 2 looks lacking :|

Bummer. You gotta think about this games age though. I have never actually played the game at full spec so Im gonna like the look of it no matter what. I just cant wait to play through all of it again. Iv been holding off playing episode one for about a year.

Yeah, it's an old game, but makes me wonder if I should even bother considering I have it on PC. Oh well, I'll just wait for COD4 to see what gets better reviews.

yeah i am fanboy of halo .... and ? me happy to be, i would of been a fanboy of half life 2 if it was more fun, but as i said i played it on pc, and i find pc games (apart from my beloved wow *strokes his wow box*) boring, i prefered doom 3 on the xbox 1 to the pc version
So here is hoping i will find half life 2 a lot more fun on the 360 than the pc .... if so i will report back and take back my words, until then .....yeah it boring.

Yep. And per our long standing rules that is an automatic warning. We don't put up with that. If someone is a self proclaimed fanboy, fine. But it is absolute trolling when you won't dialogue and use the "fanboy card" as a response. Tsk tsk.

Don't get too excited... TFC dropped the dynamic shadows (no self shadows BOOOOO) and has the source issue of shadows passing through static geometry. Booh! Still looks good. The art is really good.

That movie is fantastic!

I must apologize for what I did with my first comment. That was just a Halo fanboy inside me.;) I'm sure The Orange Box is fantastic value and for Valve fans it delivered on all fronts. I think I might pick up the game next year when it's cheaper.

Im just excited to play all the games. I love Half Life and cant wait to try out Portal and TF2.

I wish Gamersyde would do an image comparison of the 360 version of HL2 and the PC version. The 360 version is very clearly better (tons more effects), but it seems noone has stepped up to the plate and some sites like IGN actually are saying the PC version looks better.

I just got done comparing the textures in one of the coast levels of HL2, because the texture seemed a little low resolution on the 360, but it's exactly the same as the PC version plus a detail map.

So what am I a "fannyboy" of? Half Life 2? I've probably played more Halo than you have -- I just have a different opinion. Freak'n get over it already. This is the problem with fanboys in general.. even when you admit to your disorder you're entirely too sensitive when it comes to your favorite games. Guess what.. I'm not offended by the fact that you think HL2 is boring.. or that you're not a PC gamer (I'm actually relieved). I am a little offended by the whole, trolling aspect of the Halo 3 fans in this thread though.

So I don't recommend continuing down this path. I'm letting this slide.. you can keep discussing your opinion all you want, but this malicious bullshit isn't acceptable.

It's out.. people be playing it on my friends list.

I still haven't bought it yet.. but it'll probably my next gaming purchase on PC. Probably. I need TF2 at least, and since I don't own EP1/2 either it seems to make sense to go ahead and purchase HL2 again.

I've only played HL2 and HL1 for a total of about an hour on a friend's PC a few years ago. I think it looks really good. Not the best looking 360 game out there, but it looks better than say Stranglehold, which is still a good looking game. The lighting is very good. I hear each episode the overall look gets better on HL2. I played HL2 last night all the way up to the first vehicle in the game. I'm enjoying it thus far.
I only played TF2 last night for about 15mins. I thought is was OK... definitely not enough time to form a good or bad opinion. I'm eager to get more time in it. For me the value is definitely there... I wonder if we'll see other companies do similar compilations? Also anyone think there is any hope of seeing CounterStrike Source for 360, as DLC?
