COD4 dropped to $39.99 recently. It's still crazy that it's never been on sale on Steam, but I guess they figure it's sold extremely well and continues to... so why drop the price? It does sorta amuse me that World at War went on sale for $24.99 long before Call of Duty 4 ever did.

Take that, Treyarch!

PS. Prototype is the standard 49.99 here. Activision hates Europe.

Yes they do. CoD4 50€! it was 75€ or something a while back... so I guess 59€ is a bit better... not really I can get retail game for 38€ or less if I want to.

I would buy more games from Steam but the prices are way too high most of the time.

The support classes? Medic? That's a class that dies a lot more often than gets kills. It would really put people off playing medic.

But sure, you show the other side of the coin. Personally I think it can help just as much as hinder.

Latest TF2 update.
May 29, 2009 - Team Fortress 2 Update Released

Updates to Team Fortress 2 have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:

Team Fortress 2


Added Sniper/Spy milestone achievements as an additional way players can get the new unlockables

Arena Mode-
Added tf_arena_use_queue server convar. Turn this on to get the old queue behavior. Default is off

Added tf_arena_round_time to set a timelimit on the round

Added the userid of the player who built the teleporter to the "player_teleported" event

Fixed player killed event causing server crash

Fixed Spies not being telefragged when standing on an enemy teleporter exit with the Dead Ringer enabled

Fixed attackers seeing the mini-crit particle effect for full crits if the victim has the Jarate effect enabled

Fixed the Ambassador not doing damage to buildings

Fixed Spies disguised as their own team not drawing blood effects

Fixed players killed by flaming arrows not showing the appropriate death icon
Great that they've included milestones again as a way to get unlocks. They seem to have made the random system better now too. I'm finally finding new unlocks!

The Unreal Deal Pack and UT3 are both on sale (together and separately) as well. Not sure if that's been mentioned. The Unreal Deal Pack is $20--if I didn't already own UT3 I would be all over that one.

I have to disagree with the improvement to the random system Archaos. I think you just got lucky. I played some last night and unlocked another (I think I'm on my third) Ambassador and another (again, third) Medic gun... lame.

Everyone will want is hats :P So hard, i know they are supposed to be rare but pfft one week and no hat yet? :(

I'm only missing heavy gun and a spy unlock. Already on my number 6 or 7 axtinguisher lol

I finally got a Force-A-Nature in TF2.. I'm not sure I like it. Being able to effectively triple jump is pretty cool, but having to reload every other shot is a pain in the arse. Plus, in most cases, unless you push someone off an edge or cause some sort of environmental damage as a result of the knock-back, you would only ever want to keep a Pyro out of range. In every other fight it pays to have your opponent as close to you as possible with the Scout.

He's my most played class now. I fuckin love him. This is easily my second favorite FPS from this generation now. In some ways, it's a much more perfect game than any other multiplayer shooter I've played in ages.. I just always go back to Call of Duty because, well, you love what you know best most.

I'm rockin that Scout now.

Yap, i'm disappointed too. Really calling this a sequel? Most stuff coming on L4d2 should have been released for the first game, new weapons, new survivors, new maps, new zombies....

Saving all to L4D2 :(

There's going to be a major backlash over L4D2. Frankly I don't understand how they could not have seen this coming. Their support of HL2 and TF2 has been the best in the business.. and they're always bringing us extreme values on Steam with their bundles and deals.. and now a full on sequel to a game that begs for more content?

What the fuck, Valve? Please debut Portal 2, Episode 3, and CS2 this week and try to make up for this nonsense. Seriously.. you just pissed off a hell of a lot of fans. :/

I don't think this will be part of a bigger package, but that would certainly help. I love Valve, I love Steam, and I'm not going to let this turn me away from their greatness.. but I still can't help being a little shocked and disappointed. It's a bit of a bummer, but it's certainly not something they can't recover from. They are one of the greats, after all.

PS. CS2 won't be part of a bigger package. They've already hinted in the past that they believe that Counter Strike is a big enough franchise to stand on its own.

L4D was already developed by Turtle Rock, one of Valve's previous partners.. and now an internal team at Valve since they acquired them with Left 4 Dead. Naturally Valve has multiple internal teams... but Turtle Rock just added to their size and ability to handle multiple projects. I suppose they need to do something while their core teams work on games like Portal 2, Episode 3, and CS2.
