It's a perfectly relevant issue if you're a PC gamer Ron. I can't for a second consider a title exclusive to a platform when it's also available for a platform I own.

Even if it's the best place for you to play the thing, it's still not the only one. That's what exclusive actually means!

And I mean, the really heated talk of exclusives is because of the console "war"...the PC isn't really relevant to it(though I'm not saying the PC is irrelevant in general).

But yeah, MS fucked up hard. I'm more than likely jumping ship and getting a PS4.

Sure, it's relevant if you're a PC gamer. If not, and you're deciding on a console to buy, then games that are exclusives to one console or the other are a fairly big deal, and their availability on PC doesn't matter one little bit. But yes, obviously if you're a PC gamer, then it's super important and warrants pointing out that a game can't be console exclusive if it appears on PC.

You can defend the console itself as a good piece of hardware (we hope) with a ton of games coming for it. You can't defend their policies, they fucked up real bad there.

The beauty of it for Microsoft is the casual consumer will probably have no idea what about any of this and buy it anyways

That's your POV, but from a console manufacturer's position the PC version doesn't change that exclusivity for their platform. Not even from a financial perspective because the impact of the sales of the PC version are negligible to the console's version. So again, it's just splitting hairs. An exclusive for a console is still an exclusive.

But Grift, I concede that if it weren't for PC file sharing the impact would be considerable.

I think it rather unfortunate if both consoles do just fine. But the shame in that case is on shitty uninformed or uncaring (ignorant or stupid) customers, not MS.

A console exclusive. Yes I get that it has value for Microsoft. It just doesn't have value for millions of consumers. Or consumers who have enough of a clue to know that they can buy a video card instead of a console.

I think we're underestimating the power of XBL and how important peoples investment into it to this point is to them when choosing a next-gen console. A lot of people will buy xbox1 just because they want to carry over all those achievement points and all of their giant friends lists of people to play with online

Achievement points? Like.. really? Are people that stupid/easy? They don't mean anything and no one cares about your gamerscore :D

Friends lists are migratable. I have a pretty big XBL friends list and everyone I've met there that matters I will keep in touch with. It aint that hard to make a move. Especially when there is no legacy support.

But I agree that people clearly think that way :D

Well people call EA/Activision/Ubi DRM devils, but if a game comes they really want to play, they will buy it, same will happen with consoles if there's a game you really want to buy, you will get it.

lol you might not think that way, but i can guarantee you there are a TON of 360 owners who are having a very hard time dealing with the potential move to a sony platform for their online gaming.

Killer Instinct is an exclusive. That was the argument.

KI is free to play BTW, if anyone cares. You can only play Drago though.. so it's more of a shitty demo than an actual F2P game.

I'm a 360 owner. Never bought the PS3, and definitely my next console will be a PS4 and not a Xbone. I might get a used and cheap Xbone some years later, but not sure.
