Project Spark is the most ambitious title I've seen in a while. Still wondering if it will tie into self-publishing in anyway. Fan voted content getting a full release would be interesting. Not entirely implausible with it having a PC version with advanced editors.

Have to admit that EQ Next has got me interested as well. The whole World building and props making sounds really cool . Pretty OT for this thread though .

Official announce of MS Self Publishing, sounds Great.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-08-20-micro...
Microsoft has unveiled its Xbox One indie developer self-publishing program. Self publishing for indies, with no fees and free dev units.

Microsoft said it met with more than 50 developers to learn what they wanted from a self-publishing program, and ID@Xbox, as it's known, is the result.

Under the new rules, each registered developer will receive two development kits at no cost, and developers will have access to the full power of the console, cloud services, Kinect and the Xbox Live toolset, which includes Xbox SmartGlass, multiplayer, Achievements and Gamerscore, among other things.

Applications to the ID@Xbox Program will be accepted from 20th August at www.xbox.com/id. If a developer is accepted, it will become a registered Xbox One developer.

Microsoft said this status will be granted "with priority" to independent game developers "who have a proven track record of shipping games on console, PC, mobile or tablet", suggesting Microsoft has stopped short of creating a true open platform in the vein of the App Store.

Crucially, there are no application fees, and as with Xbox 360, there are no fees for certification or title updates.

Developers will also benefit from a global support team, headed up by ID@Xbox director Chris Charla. Charla's brief is to maintain personal communication with developers. Community managers will provide quick responses to submissions, and a number of events are planned to explain how the process will work.

A chief concern among indie devs is how their games will be discovered by gamers who use the Xbox One.

Microsoft said all games are located together on the Xbox One Store, and "rich search scenarios" using voice through Kinect will enable easy discoverability.

Trending will showcase what friends and the community are playing, Recommendations will bring forward new games based on what you like to play, Spotlight showcases Editor Picks and, with the Xbox One's Game DVR and Upload feature, new games will be found as gamers capture and share videos. Developers will also be able to create special events out of Achievements and Challenges.

Be the Hero or Villain in Fable Legends for Xbox One (UE4 Engine) - Trailer, https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embed...

Quote From Fable Demo:

Fable Legends is really quite a beautiful thing, especially considering how early the code is.
Fable Legends 4 player co-op!
Love the clothing effects in these next gen games.
Lumbering troll animation in Fable is damned impressive.
Today at gamescom, Microsoft Studios and renowned UK developer Lionhead Studios unveiled the next installment in the epic “Fable” saga – “Fable Legends” – exclusively for Xbox One. Prepare to return to the magical and mysterious fantasy world of Albion, only this time with up to three other Heroes as you embark on quests, slay monsters and discover new weapons, armor and treasure to upgrade your character with.

“Fable Legends” empowers you to play the way you want. Hone your skills in swordplay, or specialize in the arcane arts as a wizard or witch. Play cooperatively with friends on Xbox Live, venture through Albion solo with AI companions, or create a party comprised of both human and computer allies. Switching between single and multiplayer sessions is seamless, allowing you or your friends to hop in and out whenever you decide.

“Fable” has given you the freedom to be as righteous or morally bankrupt as you want in the past, but for the first time in “Fable” history, “Fable Legends” gives you the chance to embrace villainy and assume the role of an evil mastermind. Playing a Hero utilizes the classic “Fable” style of gameplay, but as a Villain, you’ll combine strategy and tactics to control an army of minions against the Heroes. Command your troops in real-time and carefully manage your minions’ unique abilities to ensure the forces of evil prevail.

Football Legends Coming to FIFA 14 Ultimate Team – Only on Xbox
Football (or soccer) fans will have the ultimate FIFA experience when “FIFA 14” launches this fall with legendary footballers, including Pele’, Patrick Viera, Freddie Ljungberg, Ruud Gullit and Gary Linekar, only available in “FIFA 14” Ultimate Team on Xbox One and Xbox 360. Fans will be able to build their “FIFA 14” Ultimate Team with a mix of legendary players on the pitch, alongside today’s stars on Xbox One and Xbox 360.

Legendary players Freddi Ljungberg and Ruud Gullit joined EA SPORTS Senior Vice President Matt Bilbey, and Xbox Vice President’s, Phil Spencer and Phil Harrison, to unveil the exclusive “FIFA 14” Ultimate Team offering for Xbox fans at gamescom, in Cologne, Germany. Ljungberg and Gullit were confirmed as two of the first Legends to join “FIFA 14” Ultimate Team on Xbox later this year.

In another crowd-pleasing announcement, Harrison shared that all pre-order Xbox One Day One Edition consoles in Europe will include “FIFA 14.”

Project Spark Community Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyzF_p061xE&feature...

Insane :)
At gamescom, Team Dakota showcased several innovative features for future “Project Spark” creators through the reveal of the “Project Spark” voice and motion capture, which uses the power of Kinect to bring you into the game like never before. Players can capture facial animations, body motion and voice and sound to create custom character animations, dialog or even cinematic cut scenes.

Express yourself with facial capture technology and record dramatic scenes, make your own attacks, and much more. In addition, you can record your own sayings or sounds using the Kinect microphone, bringing the audial customization of your living world to an all new level of fun.

Voice and motion capture enables:

Facial Expression Capture – Users can record their face and have it applied to an in-game character

Animation Recording – Do a new attack, full body motions, gestures, etc.

Record audio and modulate – Speak a line, singing, etc. Modulate the sounds in a variety of ways
The result is being able to make your own animations or even cinematic cut scenes when you combine all three (face + body + voice).

Team Dakota also announced the official beta launch dates for “Project Spark” – invitations will begin rolling out to registered beta participants starting at the end of October 2013 for Windows 8 devices and January 2014 for Xbox One creators. Players can register for the beta at www.joinprojectspark.com

Are you really gonna be stoked over shit like Zoo Tycoon, Zumba Fitness, another Lego game and Peggle? Or Skylanders? Lococycle?

Forza, KI and Ryze are the only real system sellers there. Who goes out and buys a console for 500 bucks then plays bloody LocoCycle?

And look how many 3rd party titles there are just so they can make their list look longer, remove all of those and look how the list would fall short like tetris with not much worth a damn to get.

Definitely. Just remember these are launch titles, and they look pretty darn good for console starters that are being shoved out of the door. Give these studios a couple of years to experiment with their pipelines and other rendering techniques. It'll get even better.
