I think the problem is that the entire event was so obviously not aimed at gamers. Most people think of the xbox as a console, and one that did really well this last generation. And now? It's a set-top box for your tv. The entire event was about fantasy sports, swapping between browsing and tv and so forth. Personally, for me as a gamer that is looking for new GAME experiences, rather than a peripheral for watching tv (which i don't do by the way).

Now as a lot of people have pointed out the games will come and e3 this and e3 that. That still leaves me with a bitter sense of microsoft not really gearing this hardware towards me. I expected a lot more in terms of games, talking tech, showing what the new hardware would actually do. But no, they didn't and that isn't exactly instilling confidence in me right now.

Seems to me that the people that are having positive reactions to this are either not gamers, or they are excited for reasons other than gaming.

Basically what i'm saying is that for me as a gamer, all they did was shit all over the place with this reveal and they will now have to make an EXCEPTIONAL pre-e3 conference to win me back. Gesture driven remote control? Think i'll pass, Don.

That is kinda funny though Megido. If I have an angry expression will the Xbox One read that and recommend something institutional to calm me down? LMAO!

Just a reminder for all the PC fanatics - Xbox One will let you sell your games at least, in opposite to steam where it just ain't possible.

The difference is that on PC the games are half the price of a retail console title at launch anyway, so buying a shit game is by far more tolerable :P

Well if they won't show compelling games (the ONLY thing that can save them now after this motherload of bad press), then the XB1 is dead before it even launched.

I'm a bit confused: what happens if you don't connect to the Internet before that 24-hour mark? Does the Xbox One explode?

I'd assume, since its basically online DRM, it'll just prevent you playing any games. But i'd guess you still have access to the other functionality, god forbid we ever lost the ability to watch live sports...

But you'll be able to play them again once you're back online, right? Sounds like a very strange decision, as do so many other things already.

The console sounds (and looks) pretty bad at the mo, but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and wait for E3. If that event doesn't change things, then I might have already made the decision not to invest.

What i don't get with that kind of DRM is who it is they think they are shafting. Here's a hint; people without internet connections. The pirates will just bypass that shit anyway, so what's the point? All that it's doing is creating a hassle for the legit users. like with most of these obtuse goddamn DRM systems.

Why aren't they just focusing on creating good content that people want to buy, at a budget that's realistic? Why aren't we seeing things in games to promote going legit over piracy? Smart online functionality, like the Souls game for one, is á great way of letting online funcionality add to the game without it feeling tacked on or being a DRM system that sodomizes the player for NOT being a smelly pirate hooker. It baically goes, "hey you can play offline if you want to, and it will be good, but to get the most out of your experience you should take it online". I think that's probably a stronger deterrent to piracy than any old DRM system. But maybe i'm just being naive, i don't know. Games like The Witcher and services like GoG seem to be doing alright without any kind of DRM.

Yes, the online check ups allow you to keep playing.

The thing is, it's all a chain reaction.

There would be no online check ups if the console didn't have crappy policies regarding used games, the console wouldn't have horrible policies regarding used games if it didn't install games without the need for the disc.

Basically if MS make it so the disc is required to launch an installed game, as it currently is now on the 360. The other issues would just melt away. Would it stop you jumping between 3 games at any time like they wanted? Yes. But really, who does that anyway. And more importantly, is it a feature worth screwing over consumers and giving yourself a horrible image?

I just hope MS sees that and changes everything.

True enough but when you buy a digital game weather its on Steam, XBL or PSN you are excepting the fact that you can't resell it, that shouldn't be the same for physical copies of the game.

It's a matter of principle really.

I am perfectly happy to insert a disc into a console to play a game, how lazy has America become that they won't even get up off the couch any more. (no offense lol)

Shame about not being region free. I do like that aspect of vita/PS3. If it wasn't for that i don't think demon's souls would have even got a western release. The fact people where importing the game to play it is what kicked the whole thing off. But as you said. Not all that surprising really. I'm sure some games will be if they keep the current 360 method.

I recently bought a US copy of God of War Saga whic include all games, two of those were DLC, the code inside wouldnt work on my UK PSN account, I had to fake a US account to download those two games. So no, I dont think PS3 is region free 100%

Thats what your regions games are for, full compatibility. The US version was distributed in the US, and works in the US. Its just the side effect of importing. The DLC and patches for my copy of UT3 didn't work on my UK account. But i have a US account to get around it. It's better then no access at all. And it lets you play games you maybe otherwise couldn't.

1 billion $ for gaming is more than enough this gen. Cloud, xbox live will probably eat most of it though.

If you use US PSN you cannot access Japan or Europe, Asia Store. So if you buy US PSN card only applicable to the US store.

The game you bought is US region therefore it access US PSN store to download those games.

Seriously? that's a massive flaw if true. I thought Kinect would have to have to check that there was a person in front of its camera first and then recognize the voice??? Wow, this cant get any better for MS can it.....
